You'd think most would make the connection between "post not allowed" and "account removed for violation" especially after the 7th or 8th repeat

Hi Fritzr,

In my case, no such behaviour preceded the deletion of my account. I asked dlb to rethink his actions against the bfl-team and announced that I would stop crunching for P@H until this was solved. No four-letter-words were used, this was my 3rd post on that forum and I was using the same account I crunched 7000+ credits for P@H on.
The next day, I found my account deleted. No warning and no explanation was given. My mail to dlb and his superior, ofcourse, never was answered.

I hope this will help you to understand my attitude towards P@H and dlb. If a project treats their volunteers like that, they fully deserve a protest like its being organized right now.

Fritzr said
Of more concern for those supporting the persecution of an Admin who took action to control what the OWNERS of a forum saw as troublemakers posting on a moderated forum is that Admins of unrelated projects will be less likely to tolerate similar abuse on their forums.

If you look at just some of the links to the Predictor forum I've provided in my previous posts, you will see that for several years it has essentially been an unmoderated forum. In general, the only times the administrators have responded to posts have been when they wanted members to provide or do something for them. This is still the case - spammers' posts are left while genuine crunchers' queries go unanswered.

If the Predictor administrator had not for a full month ignored both the email notification from Berkeley about Wate, and my public announcement about what the Wate trojan attack consisted of (which was copied to the Predictor forum by Saenger), crunchers would have had no reason to be angry about the delay. Even at that late stage a simple statement that the admins would investigate would have sufficed.

Instead, I was referred to by Mr Braun as 'some guy' making unverifiable allegations on some web page or other. He had not read my announcement, had not looked at the embedded links and had not looked at the thread on the forum where it had been posted. No wonder members were seriously annoyed.

I'm sorry, Fritzr, but knowing what I do about the chronology of the events, I conclude that the Predictor administrators brought this upon themselves. (This is not to say that I condone those posters who were rude.)

Similar abuse is unthinkable on the majority of boinc project forums because members, mods and admins there communicate.

@ mo.v - gotta get that sticky "Post" button fixed

Re: Fritzr's post: - Did Jordless get a new account? Sounds like his brand of sarcasm. I can't figure out why he insists on supporting that spineless dlb character.

---------------------------

Nice goings on at the Predictator@home forum today.

Jordless picking on algee2004 for his simple query about why his IP range is blocked.

dlb sticking a sharp stick in the eye of all those deleted contributors by leaving them off the list of contributors he published for Dr. Tripp

And the UOTD is priceless ! Good Luck with your account, mate.

That's just fine with me. My experience tells that scientists who produce results at all costs, e.g. exploiting partners and wasting subordinates, will not care for the quality of their results, too. Thus I prefer not to be connected to their results.

@Narwhal: Congratulations! You can consider your P@H-credits well spent!

Well, there you go, after clocking up over 2,800 credits for Predictor and NOT being banned, I've still been ommitted from the list of contributors!

Sod them!!!!

I've got 200,000 credits, and am not on that list. I'm not banned, either.

Well, there we go! How simple a little bit of polite communication helps a project.

Most of you have probably already recieved the e-mail from World Community Grid...

World Community Grid has reached the 100,000 years of run time mark! THANK YOU to all our volunteers who have enabled us to reach this amazing milestone! Because of your contributions, results on critical health issues have already been achieved, demonstrating World Community Grid's potential to make significant inroads on a great range of future projects that can benefit the world.
On behalf of the research staff at Fiocruz, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, World Community Grid's team wish to express our thanks to you for contributing your PC power to this project. With your contribution, this project was completed in a fraction of the time it would otherwise have taken.

Things like this don't seem to be too hard for other projects to do, why doesn't Predictor take a leaf from their books, get of their mighty power thrones and actually pay some respect to their contributors?

It seems he's based it on having a claimed work unit, which apparently means recent Work unit. since they do regular database purges, that means that those who havent' contributed recently, aren't listed.

that said, me and my 6000+ credits are perfectly happy not to be considered in support of predictor

11/02/07

The Brooks Research Group will be relocating to the University of Michigan. The current Predictor@Home site will remain open until December. After that there will be a down time while we transfer people and resources to Ann Arbor Michigan. We hope to be up again some time after January 1, 2008.

I hope the disgusting dlb will stay where he is and not relocate as well. If so there's a chance for it to become a serious project again.

If the email hasn't been sent, now would be the time to do so before they close down.

Good news for you, Angus.

Your account has been deleted.
Why your stats are always here ? because stats have not been exported by this "project" since 31 days now.
Next time, don't criticize.

edit :
Some posts have disappeared "of course".
Not impossible that an other "user" has disappeared too.

Well, Predictor finally unplugged the server for their move to Michigan.

Let's hope that dlb falls off the bridge crossing the Mississippi on his way there.

I'm sure the SoCal squid won't like the cold/hot/humid/buggy climate in Michigan and he'll disappear from the Predictator scene.

Well, dlb is back to his old ways already, and the project isn't even running yet.
Deleting posts and accounts, trying to rewrite history to cover his behavior.

Of course, his buddy Jordless is right there sticking up for the jerk.

People wouldn't have to keep making new accounts if the jerk didn't keep deleting them.

New state, new university, same old jerk.
