For several days, I have been unable to reach SIMAP's BOINC server or website. I have systems with workunits that have an expiration of 5/9. It appears at some point during the past week a few of my systems were able to upload their results, but have not yet been able to report.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I haven't seen any reports of an outage.

I'm wondering if it's some kind of localized routing or DNS issue, but I've tried traceroutes from various web-based traceroute servers around the globe which have not been able to reach boinc.bio.wzw.tum.de, either. However, I don't completely trust standard traceroute because not all routers or servers respond to the packets. Using tcptraceroute locally, the last hop that responds is vl-3012.csr1-0q1.lrz-muenchen.de (129.187.0.158).

I've been crunching the actual batch without problems since Mayday.

Never had any issues, neither DL, nor UL nor crunching, and I'm always nearly 90% SIMAP at the beginning of a month.

Haven't read anything on the SIMAP-Fora as well, neither in german nor in english.

It's very, very strange. It's not a DNS issue - I checked my local DNS resolution against an independent lookup and they match. For some strange reason, the connection just dies before reaching the server.

Could someone that can connect do me a favor and post a traceroute? I'm curious to see what the route looks like.

I've posted it in the SIMAP forum, I hope Jonathan will come here.

For those of you who can read both, here's the link:

Hi Skutnar,

If I have Identified you correctly ("Skutnar" on Simap)

I've found one of your hosts contacting us on April-30; and one from Mai-1st (zeus and hermes or otherway round...)

Other than that - I only checked one of our 4 Schedulers, but sofar I couldn't detect irregularities...

If you'll contact me on the boincsimap forums or via email:
jonathan dot boincsimap that weird a [now domain] schwarzelan dot de

Cheers

FYI, currently it is just after 1AM EDT (5AM UTC) Sunday, May 6 and I have been able to access the SIMAP site and post the results. A couple of the systems have downloaded HMMER work and the other two non-SSE probably will after I do some manual work.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
