malariacontrol.net beta | 6/10/2007 10:27:45 AM | [error] Error on file upload: can't write file /malaria/malaria/upload/cf/mapwca0082344.txt_3_1: No space left on server
^ First time I've ever seen that error. Even their website won't come up, it's been saying "Too many connections" for at least the last 4 hours.

Anyone heard anything?

I don't crunch Malaria, but when a server can't accept file uploads it's best to suspend network activity rather than make repeated upload atttempts.

Unfortunately I can't do that, because BOINC doesn't have per-project network activity settings (as far as I'm aware?). I've already got most of the machines that were on the project set to not request more work and attached to other projects, but suspending activity would just run them out of work for the other projects too.

This is what back-off periods are for, and evidently this error carries some weight with the client because it put them all at a 24 hour wait to reconnect.

Was just wondering if anyone had heard something from them via means other than their site hehe.

A Trac ticket has been completed requesting per-project network activity settings. Lots of multproject crunchers will welcome this if it can be implemented.

Won't suspending the project achieve the same thing - or is it still going to hammer away trying to upload the already completed wu's

Great. I am looking forward to that feature very much!

Unfortunately, no, hence the proposed per project network settings. I was daydreaming of this setting when Einstein was having problems. If a file transfer is already in progress (up or down) the only way to stop BOINC from retrying the project specific transfer is to suspend network activity for the entire machine. I, for one, will gladly welcome such setting, even if it is embedded into the Suspend Project feature. Personally I think that a separate button/command be added to give more flexibility.

And now, as a fellow Knight, I am done here since the thread is officially off-topic. Thank you, and Ni! to you all.
