I have been having problems accessing primegrid.com web site for the past 12 hours. It seems to be overloaded or not responding - when and *if* the browser request fails and does not time out I get this error message:

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Too many connections in /home/boinc/proj/html/inc/db_conn.inc on line 15

Fatal error: Call to a member function base_escape_string() on a non-object in /home/boinc/proj/html/inc/boinc_db.inc on line 46

I have fixed PrimeGrid, works now.

I tried to access the pimegrid.com web site using Internet Explorer and Firefox a few minutes ago. It does not responding ever after a 1 minute wait.
I'll try again later today when the site is maybe not too busy.

Server is down.

The problem is that there are many hosts hammering on the PG server, causing it to overload as soon as I restarted the database. Project is now on hold till Rytis can have a look.

Is this maybe an aftereffect of the Ides of March promo they had? All the extra work units people downloaded (and did not finish) for the event are now being returned?

I stopped crunching PG yesterday when it was clear that there were serious problems. Doesn't seem likely that I'll be able to report a bunch of results before the deadline, but thankfully not too many wasted hours :-)

PG has been a nice, stable project so far (in fact my favourite!). Looking forward to it getting back online.
