Well, yeah.... the project admin at FreeHal has annoyed a lot of people, as you can see from the shoutbox here, and the forums there!! I even got banned from posting there because I summed up the contents of the FH@Home forum thread: that instead of bickering about "manipulated credits" he should fist look at his own part in the matter. He became slightly abusive, basically calling me an idiot, so I let off a little steam telling him that I HAD read the entire contents of the thread, making special note to read his comments in pretty bad English and he was to blame for the whole thing. He then deleted my forum posts and blocked me from posting again. I guess he couldn't handle the truth. OK, as with a lot of new projects there are some unethical crunchers who will try to inflate their credit in various ways. It happens all the time. But my point is very simple. Why didn't he start by giving fixed credits for each WU done? That could then have been changed at a later date. No, he got straight in there, with complicated credit calculations, a crappy validator, a crunching system that only Germans could understand and a project that frankly belongs with the Gerasims of this world!! A new project should try to keep things as simple as possible, till all the major bugs have been ironed out, then it should start expanding and developing. I use as an example ( for obvious reasons!! ) the 3x+1 project. Started nice and simple, debugged, fixed the faults then began evolving.... Listen, you don't jump into the deep end of a swimming pool, unless you can swim, right? In the same way, you can't launch a project onto BOINC that gives stupid credits, then after 2 or three weeks, you realize that you're drowning, the codes full of bugs, and take everyone's credit away. First, you go pre-Alpha, to test if the darn thing works, and progress from there.
In conclusion, my main point is this: I will not be accused of lying and cheating by anyone....how could I have cheated, I didn't even crunch the stupid project!! And Tobias....get someone who can speak English to post for you, if you don't wish to be "misunderstood"!!
