One of my four hosts has a lot of trouble with the current work at VP. It's a C2D (T7200) running WinXP Pro (32-bit) with >3GB RAM. Almost all WUs error out after a few minutes and give the dreaded "Output file...absent" message in the BOINC manager. (The few that have finished okay do so in 1-2 minutes and still pay 15 'stones...I won't complain about those!
).
Here is the
detail of a typical failed WU. Here is the
problem host.
Looking at the Windows Task Manager, it doesn't seem like the host is short on memory. I've even tried shutting down as much as possible to free up memory and I still get the errors. Even if I run only one VP task -- and no other BOINC WU -- they still fail. Resetting and detaching/re-attaching doesn't seem to have a affect.
I posted this same message to the VP forum
here but didn't get anywhere.
Thanks for any ideas.

Mark,
I looked at one of your failing WU's and it shows the following error:
- Unhandled Exception Record -
Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005) at address 0x00405A54 write attempt to address 0x000607E4
According to this site
http://www.0xc0000005.com/
there are several things that can cause this error, RAM, drivers etc.
