NEWS

Dear all volunteers, our sudoku@vtaiwan system crashed around Jan 3rd, 2011. We would like to apologize to you all for the crash.
We have recovered our system. However, we still lost the login record of volunteers, including account/password, though we backup the credits of all volunteers. Since we cannot but reset the volunteer credit system, we need your help to restore your credits as follows.

Detach the old "sudoku@vtaiwan" project entry (in the projects folder), and then
attach new project "http://sudoku.nctu.edu.tw" project as a "new user", but remember to use the same name.

As long as you can register with the same name as before, we can restore your credits by adding the current saved credits back to the new system later.
Sorry for any inconvenience. And thank you very much for your continuous support.

Be sure to use the same username/email/password if you already used BAM! with Sudoku and if you want BAM! to connect to the new account.

I tried to reattach yesterday and it's still saying: Message from server: Project is temporarily shut down for maintenance

Yes, most of the servers are currently shut down.

FYI, they should be turning on their forum functionality soon.

Thanks for the update zombie67.

I detatched and reattached again today and it worked. The first WU failed to validate although the second one completed and validated. That gives me 2 credits, now to get back the 50,387 I had before the crash. It sounds like that requires a manual process that will be performed later. In the mean time I have it set to no new tasks.

Bruce, your message triggered me checking on my account. It looks like they have started the process of giving back previous credits. Mine looks to be close to the previous plus the little earned over the last few days. No posted news so I don't know where they are in the process.

I rejoined the Project but not sure if I'll get mine back, I've used 4 Different user Names the last 6 month's and wasn't sure what it was at Sudoku@vtaiwan, I e-mailed them explaining it , I always used the same e-mail address though if that would do them any good ...

Jeff, all except 125 of my previous 50k credits were restored today! Maybe they don't have an absolute current backup for the credits. It's close enough!

Mine were all restored too, or close enough as Bruce said. I received an e-mail response to the one I sent them and they used the e-mail address I gave them to cross check against the user names I might have used and came up with the right account ...

I recreated my account successfully, but when I try to attach my systems after detaching, I see this message:
Localhost 01/18/11 10:46:21 1250 sudoku Message from server: Invalid or missing account key. To fix, detach and reattach to this project .

Is there anything that I can do about it?

TIA

That means I've got to delete all BAM! Sudoku accounts as well since they have the old account key.

Everybody should add Sudoku to his BAM! account again, then attach the hosts again.
