WARNING: The project requires very steep computing requirements:

64 bit Linux or 64 bit Windows PC ONLY
Between 3 and 6 Gigabytes Memory PER Work Unit

side note:
memory needs per work unit went over 8GB,
had to stop for now.

You are correct.

Here is a post from the project admin dated Jan 29, 2012:

Hi all!

RAM demand with the current WUs is now beyond the 8 GB mark. The University's computers I have been computing Neurona with, have only 6GB so I had to detach them from the project some days ago, too much swapping to make it worthwhile.

There is nothing I can do to improve the memory usage, so for hosts with 8 GB RAM I think you are also close to the point you should give up until we return to less demanding WUs.

For your info, results production has dropped to 4400 / day. With 180000 WU left, this means in the best case 40 days more to complete this phase.

look like they have started a new set of work units, much less memory needed.
but they will still drop a few of the 8 GB memory work units in the mix till they
are gone.
so go for it.

And the credit rate is still astonishingly low (for example). But I guess we knew that already...
