Lee - I've moved that graphic to the signature box area.

Biohazard - That link was only to give you some idea of what the project is up to. For any more information you would have to go to http://biology.polytechnique.fr/proteinsathome/ and check the message boards.
My link did not tell you how to sign up because the project is still in Alpha and sign-up is by invitation only.

Does anyone here know when proteins@home will go live? I asked this question a few days ago in the shoutbox but could not get back in time to check if anyone had answered my query. If you have any info on docking@home, please post here as well.

I would like to join both projects, but am reluctant because of alpha and beta testing and the mess that sometimes comes with all of that.

You can always go back all the time in the shoutbox in this thread in the Cafe. (7759 post just now).

I don't have an answer to your question though.

Is this project on it's way to retirement or is it in hiding again? Does anybody have any news?

Nothing new. It looks like it will be a few months before they start up again, probably before the end of the year I would think. The other thread on this matter has a posting from their web site that mentions they will be down for a few months. I can't wait for it to start up again. I rather like the biology projects as a whole. See you then!!

From the Proteins forum, it is reported that Proteins will have new work around the end of December.

. . . will be watching.

Hi,

Proteins@Home is apparently dead due to a lack of funding. There has been no update from the project admin since Jan 2009. Should this project be moved to the retired projects list?

checked - http://biology.polytechnique.fr/proteinsathome/forum_thread.php?id=275&sort=5

Thanks,
Suneet

This is incorrect. The lack of funding was corrected as an assumption of a post. In fact we do not know why the project is now defunct, at least temporarily. The latest in the last few days is that there is an attempt underway to contact someone and hopefully get some answers. We should know sometime in the next couple of weeks or so if someone answers the emails.

There is a reply message from one of the moderators/developers (Thomas Simonson) at:
Message 1694 - Posted 17 Sep 2009 12:33:09 UTC

Dear friends of Proteins@Home, I've been getting
questions about the long inactivity. Thanks for
your concern. We obviously did NOT launch a third
phase of calculations at the end of 2008, as we
had planned. Instead, we've been analyzing and
exploiting the large amount of data collected in
2008, and we're about to submit for publication
our fourth paper based on Proteins@Home results.
Our team is not very large, so these things take
time (and a key person just left).

We are also porting some other types of calculations
to this platform, and we hope to launch them before
the end of the year.

In the meantime, I hope you will keep your Proteins@Home
connection, even though it's inactive for now.

Many thanks for your contributions. Best regards,

Thomas Simonson
