So far, it looks like it is OSX/Intel only.

And it will b so....and is likely to be deleted when the purpose is over: to test new Mac/Intel app before it gets like on main CPDN.
So, it's not really new project.

Linux, too.
At the BETA project will test the MacOS application and optimized sse applications for windows and linux :
We've just put up beta versions (CPDN version 5.20) of Windows, Intel Mac, and Linux executables, which should be optimized for SSE2 (i.e. Pentium4 on up) and have greatly reduced disk & file I/O (90% reduction)! The workunits are an assortment of finished BBC experiment runs, so we can cross compare and ensure that the optimizations are not changing the physics of the models.

zombie67, please remove the link - should be kept private. Thanks.
Expect no credit for it if you participate, nor exporting stats.

EDIT: just realized it is not possible to edit own post once it passes one hour limit so a mod/admin should do...

Why is it private? They don't want testers?

Testers already know about the beta and were informed weeks ago.
We don't want general users to be involved in large scale.

Why not use invite codes then?

AFAIK, there do show up in CPDN total and will no be exported to any stats sites (beta is likely to be deleted once is server it's purpose, much alike Spinup project).

The Beta credits are added to the CPDN credits and so they will also be exported.

But not separately. My understanding:You won't see "CPDN Beta" line in your sig since the Beta credits are included in the "CPDN" credits. There will not be a chance for Willy to add CPDN Beta to the project list since they do not export their stats, they added them already to CPDN main project - or at least I think so, since there was such a huge jump in CPDN credits around the 23rd of Jan, 2007.

News on the CPDN Beta homepage:
23 Jan, 2007
...[snip]... Within a few days, beta test credits will count towards your 'main' CPDN credits, as we think it's only fair that beta testers should get credits.

Your understanding is correct. Beta credits is included in the main project, and seperate stats export will never happen. And I mean never, as they have learned alot from the BBC thing.

The BBC thing? What happened with BBC?

They included this as well for a wee while in the CPDN-stats ("wee" is about some hours here afaik).
Of course this made all the stats worthless, caused havoc because of double counted credits on the stats sites, lot's of questions and so on. It wasn't openly discussed, so everybody was taken by surprise by this odd behaviour.

(Problem was: BBC stats existed here and on many other sites, and even if a project shuts down, the stats will stay here (or @Neil Mundays, or @Zain Uptons, or whereever they are counted) like LHC or Pirates or Lattice. So an addition of the BBC-credits to those of CPDN would have made them count double: once as BBC-credits, and a second time as CPDN-credits. Not nice.)

The inclusion of the formerly never exported betas and classic had some disturbing effect as well, but at least it was just a push for veterans and pioneers, and thus commonly accepted.

They have a new site:

http://cpdnbeta.oerc.ox.ac.uk/

After reporting Ive noticed that this project gives credits for users, but Beta credits is NOT included in the main project.

No. Like I said, credits earned at CPDN Beta 2 will be added to the regular project by the admins. So you will see it reflected in your stats at the regular CPDN, eventually.

In autumn 2006 when Carl tried to amalgamate BBC and CPDN credits, the BOINC software couldn't cope. For several minutes all the workunits ready to send flooded onto every computer that was making contact with the server. Some members got dozens, a few got hundreds and a small number got thousands of phantom models which couldn't be crunched.

So the Beta2 credit export to CPDN has to be set up very carefully.
