My WU was 1000+ hours with a 2 hour deadline. Ran for about 4 minutes.

I assume the project admins have 'opened' this project to the public BTW? They don't seem to have a message board to ask if it's OK.

Hmmm. Still not sure how to ask them if it's OK to export stats.

However, the credit granted seems very sensible, if a little low, so they're not going to be inundated with credit-hounds ;-)

There is another project running from the same campus:

http://vcsc.cs.uh.edu/second-computing/

I give the URL for information only. But, the WUs also have 1000+ hour runtimes but complete in 20 seconds.

I sent an e-mail this morning (european time) and asked them about the status (alpha/beta/production), if their results were public domain and I asked them to add message boards since communication is key in DC.

Hehe. I sent a message to both email addresses (the 'boinc' one bounced - not a good sign) asking if they were public, suggested that they were still alpha and asked for the forums to be available Great minds think alike

I'd also sent an email out yesterday. So probably they don't need anymore emails! LOL.

I know of at least 2 more mails (from Cori and me), could be a huge in-box by now
They've UTC-6, so it's about 0900 now. If they are students, and student habits are equal in the US as in Germany, they are probably just getting up and drinking coffee If they are university staff, it'll be probably their first coffee in the institute by now

I got a reply from one of the Ph.D. students today. He was very friendly and said the messageboard was a current priority and would be up soon; one of his colleagues is working on it.

He was very surprised as to where I'd found out about the project. I tried to explain a little about the BOINC community.

I'm a Ph.D. student myself so I know the lifestyle quite well.

Still no forums, but VP WU's are currently erroring out with compution errors ATM and the SC ones are still minuscule uppercase tests.

I'm not holding my breath ...

Stats for both the UH and VP projects are now being exported.
Please consider adding to BOINCSTATS and BAM!
Thanks!

And in fact they specifically don't want to publish stats yet:

Willy & ChertseyAl,

Thanks for the reminder of that formality/courtesy for new projects. I should have known you'd have the latest info. I'm just surprised that I actually found out about a project that catches my eye that hasn't already reached this stage.

It seems the ViP's changed their mind about the stats.
I just found a reply from Malek at the export Stats??? thread there:

Hi stat folks,

well I think it will take me more than I thought to resolve all the problems with this project. So, please go ahead and report the stats

Thank you

Malek

I think Willy must have added it just today? At least I found it under Sign-up for projects in my BAM! account.

@Willy: Btw, the abbreviation UHVP used for the signature is a bit misunderstanding IMHO.
I know UH stands for the University of Houston but I'm always looking for something beginning with V... how about ViP?

The gates of voting hell are open: Who wants ViP, who wants UHVP, who wants .....?

Well, the folk over at ViP refer to themselves as ViP, so let's have something different to wind them up Maybe we could actually ask them what they'd like? Radical stuff I know

Anyway ...

ViP is good.
UHVP sounds like double-glazing.
UH ViP maybe OK.
VP is short but sweet.

Time for a poll ...

Also, OT, "UCT Malar" is a bit lame, but that's a different kettle of fish, can of worms etc etc

ViP would be fine, but I also got accustomed to the "The" in front of Lattice

I think we're only talking about the text in the sig file. ViP is already listed as 'Virtual Prairie' in the active projects lists. Dunno what it looks like in BAM, haven't used it for a while.

Don't know why they just didn't call the project 'Grass' ... Oh, maybe I do ...
