Ibercivis public alpha version is up and running, and currently is issuing work.

http://registro.ibercivis.es

Not sure if they are OK for stats, but this page ...

http://registro.ibercivis.es/stats.php

... suggests that they will be willing to allow reporting:

"More detailed statistics of IBERCIVIS - public alpha version and other projects based on BOINC-based is available in several Webs" and Boincstats is listed.

Maybe someone with a better grasp of Spanish than me could contact them and ask permission? Sadly there are no forums yet, so maybe someone could ask for those too An email from them last week said:

"As for the workunits, we will email again to you next week, giving some email address to send feedback"

I wouldn't normally suggest a new project without communicating with the admins first, but they do say it's a public project

I think that the page quoted is a generic BOINC page and should not be interperted as permission. It is hard to tell since it has been converted to spanish though.

Agree with that - Was fishing for someone with better Spanish than me (frankly, *anyone* has better Spanish than me!) to try and get the forums up and maybe look at getting the stats after that. Just had a rummage around the site and can't find any sensible contact details. The only email address I have is from their Apache daemon.

Been crunching their WUs on and off all day on the test machine. Seems pretty well sorted (apart from the comedy progress indicator that goes up to 6000%). Short WUs, quickly validated, credit granted (low - beware credit-hounds).

The ATA's are already there by the look of it, so hopefully we can give the project some helpful input.

So -

How did a new BOINC project get an address list that included my *personal* email address that I have *never* put in text and only used to register at BOINC projects, when I have never visited their site or registered to use their client?

How on earth did they get this mailing list? It had to have been released by either BOINC themselves or by the administrator of another project.

However this happened, this is a serious privacy breach, and should not be tolerated.

Dear Zivis users,

The new version of Zivis, multiproject and nation-wide, will launch
formally someday in June. But our informal launch, hoping to stress
the machine, is today

Please feel free to register your BOINC client to http://registro.ibercivis.es/

Besides, a pre-release version of the corporate website is available
in http://w.ibercivis.es/ Yes, only one "w" character; it will switch
to www in the formal launch.

You may want to visit http://w.ibercivis.es/ in order to
geo-positionate yourself in order to appear in our

geopositioned maps: "current" activity of Ibercivis; same of a Team,
and same of the buddies of an user. All maps will be visible in
http://registro.ibercivis.es too; but the geo-positioning page is in the
corporate webpage.

To enter your position, once you have registered your boinc client
in "registro.ibercivis.es".
0.5)You can try using Microsoft Internet Explorer, but we recommend Firefox
to view our page.
1) Open your internet explorer and go to w.ibercivis.es. You can also use
Google to find our page.
2) Once there, write your email and password in the upper-right textboxes.

The system will also detect your registro.ibercivis.es login cookie, if
you have been there before.
2.5) You may get some error during login. Still, if you reload the

page and/or the frames, you will find yourself logged in (assuming you
entered the right password!)
3) On the right menu, click on Inicio - > Tus Datos Personales ->
Direccion y Mapa
4) Fill the most of Direccion (Direction), Ciudad (City), Pais (Country),
so that Google will try to locate the coordinate by itself. If Google fails, then position yourself in the map. To do this, simply click and drag the map
and use the left scroll to zoom in and out. When you are ready click on the
map and a red dot will show up. If you want to change your position, click
again and the red dot will move to the new position.
5) press the button "Enviar"(Send). You will get a confirmation dialog.

The help blogs and all the other communication tools, will not be active
until the formal launch. If you find some problem with the current

applications, your best hope is to voice it in your local forum and
expect someone from the developers team is reading.

Thanks!

Did you have an account on Zivis?
It's the same project, at least done by the same team, and I think they invited all old participants to their new outfit.

At this moment you can access to the new front end of Ibercivis.

In this URL http://w.ibercivis.es/ it's the beta website, with geolocalization of boinc clients, statistics and more things, but it's a BETA, perhaps that's why they haven't asked for the inclusion.

No - I had never heard of either version of the project until the posts here.

I do, but not with the email address in question.

It's on a totally different domain (a throw-away gmail account), and I got a like email sent to that account. That one I can explain.

It´s new, it´s in Spanish (probably to be translated into English quite soon) and its stats are updated dayly on http://registro.ibercivis.es/stats/

Kind of muli project thing with three main sources today, ITER fusion related WUs, materials (ITER related) WUs + kinda "docking" thing.

I think is worth a look. I do not like the way the web is mapped, though.

Regarding the mail, please do not be paranoic... you must have used it somewhere with them.... I think they do not have mind reading WU´s yet... :-)

I have a professional paranoia about data security. It's required these days.

Apparently OK for reporting on this site:

http://boincstats.com/forum/forum_thread.php?id=3276&nowrap=true#35427

But, from that thread, I share Saenger's concern about lack of project forums and other pages being in Spanish only

However, I do crunch the project, so it would be nice to see it added to the stats

There is not a forum as such in ibercivis, but several project blogs... in spanish. And there is a dedicated forum in www.canalboinc.com... in spanish.

Yes, that's sort of my point. Every other project that's exporting stats has forums. Blogs are not the same thing - I was aware of one of them, and it wasn't any help. Nor do I like email support, that's why I dropped AIS with their stupid forum posting rules. The crucial thing for any project, and especially new projects, is responsive admin, user feedback and interaction between volunteers. No admin feedback, no forums ... Go figure

The beauty of BOINC is an underlying uniformity. By ignoring forums, they are breaking away from familar territory. To be fair, WCG and CPDN are projects that I don't bother with for the similar reasons - I've crunched 60+ projects and know my way around, so why do something different? (Yes, I do know why - They pre-date BOINC, but they could have made things a bit more 'Boincy'!).

I've had a good look at the user stats. Looks like somewhere between 85% and 90% Spanish in the top few hundred participants, so they aren't going to be worried about supporting other languages, and that's fair enough. Much the same as Almere Test Grid.

Anyway, I'm sure other stats sites have already picked this one up and I dare say BOINCstats will to, fair enough. At least I get a few credits added to my total
