So, we have a new project - Leiden Classical. The first project in NL, if I'm not mistaken.

https://fwnc7003.leidenuniv.nl/Classical/

It even has graphics and source code! And 22 users at the time of this post.

It depends. Two finished very soon, one is running already 10 minutes with 23% complete.

It's the second one

The first one was BIOS (if I remember correctly also from Leiden), but they disappeared before they had any work.

Rytis: This may not be the place to put this, but I need help getting on this new project. You and others that read this probably have the answer I need.

Is the following caused by https instead of http? Is My Norton Internet Security stopping https ? If so, where can I change it from doing the blocking/

I get error -113 when trying to attach this project:

"2/13/2006 09:32:50|http://fwnc7003.leidenuniv.nl/Classical/|Scheduler request initialization to https://fwnc7003.leidenuniv.nl/Classical_cgi/cgi failed, error -113

2/13/2006 09:32:50||Can't resolve hostname [https] host name not found"

I asked part of this on the Leiden site, but I suspect they are very busy with other things with the new startup
and will not see the message for some time.

If you think this would help others that are trying to attach to that project, please answer this on the Leiden web site.

Thanks,
Richard

Perhaps try to remove the 's' in the URL from https:// to http://

I tried that and it does not work. Thank you for that suggestion.

What is interesting is that "http://fwnc7003.leidenuniv.nl/Classical" (without the 's') shows up in the BOINC Manager when I try to attach using "https://fwnc7003.leidenuniv.nl/Classical" (with the 's').
Somehow the 's' disappears.

Still looking for a solution,
Richard

I had no problems making an account (and attaching) via the BOINC Manager.

As I see in their news the server was down for a day. So perhaps you have tried to attach during their outage

I have tried many times today. And the BOINC Manager is still trying to contact the server.

Here is the message I get over and over: Can't resolve hostname [https] host name not found

guys, this is a DNS name resolution problem, we're not even at the http/https stage yet (if it can't find the server, there's not way it's going to be able to contact it) as mentioned in his forum thread at Leiden

also the http/https shouldn't matter, i attached with https and it works fine, it should also work with http

i think the problem is with his firewall, because he's accessing the forum fine with his browser, so he must be resolving the name, so something must be stopping boinc

From the developer::

But please do not yet put the link in the WIKI people; within the foreseable future the server will perhaps change hardware, name and location!

Currently stuff is being run and tested on my personal workstation and that's not ideal yet... I'm still developing and as soon as better hardware is available... people will need to detach-attach perhaps even to a diffrent URL, but I'm not sure yet... So please, test and play, but do not go public too much!

So be careful

This sounds like you are not using a 5.x.x version of the client. The earlier clients did not know about secure sites and can not access them.

NEW DEDICATED (PERMANENT?) URL
[edit]i've just had confirmation that the new URL is going to be the permanent home of leiden from now on[/edit]

from the front page news:
News

[color=]07 mar 2006[/color]
! Time to switch URL ! Currently the server has been assigned a second IP number, and with it a new URL (http://boinc.gorlaeus.net). The old URL (http://fwnc7003.leidenuniv.nl/Classical/) is still active and will be the rest of the month. After that, the fwnc7003 URL will automatically redirect to the boinc URL for another period and after that, the fwnc7003 URL will be made inactive. Currently both URL's point to that same server machine (fwnc7003) but use different IP numbers and obviously different certificates. People joining in from now on automatically will work through the boinc URL and should *only* use the boinc URL to attach. Older members are requested to change URL this month by detaching and re-attaching to the new URL. Also now you are free to choose whether you want to use the https or http. Both are supported and by default the scheduler URL uses http now!

so please update your clients (deplete work, detach, re-attach using new url) and all links/favourites/shortcuts etc that pointed to the old one

it's exactly the same server, just a different way of getting to it, so your old account will still work, and everything will be the same; account setttings, credit etc.
