Not that I am claiming to retire it, but just curious if anyone knows anything about it. It website has been down since November 28th. And, before then it was active for a week, before which it was down for a few days, etc. It almost looks like it was slowly dying with small spurts of activity in-between dead intervals... Since the site is down, I can't check their forums.

Anyone?

EDGeS@Home is a result of a long process initiated in demand for EGEE/EGI (2004) interconnectivity with desktop grids. This started around 2008 and involved EDGeS, AlmereGrid, MTA/SZTAKI amongst others. It is sort of a tech showroom for IDGF (founded by AlmereGrid), but is operational and workunits from IDGF users can land from time to time on it. Looking at SZTAKI@Home and EDGeS@Home you can easily find the link. In the app store you'll find SLinCA which was previously used in SLinCA@Home.

I oversimplified of course but workunits are balanced between the IDGF servers and on heavy load can reach EDGeS@Home, but the "maintenance" of EDGeS doesnt seem to be considered high priority

Some reading about IDGF IDGF/EDGeS

The main actors of IDGF are (from IDGF-SP site)
MTA SZTAKI (HU)
ALMEREGRID (NL)
UOW (UK)
LU (NL)
SONY (UK)
CE (UK)
IDGF (NL)

I try to ask on SZTAKI if they have any info

Well, just now, EdGeS@Home's site http://edges-grid.eu leads to a generic Buy this domain page... So, either the project is gone, or somebody didn't pay the bill to keep the domain registered.

Weirdly, http://boincstats.com/en/page/projectStatusInfo lists it as online at the moment... How come?

IDGF-SP, which managed EDGeS@Home, was founded for 24 months and we can only guess it "naturally" died. Róbert Lovas from MTA-SZTAKI, the leader of IDGF-SP team, seems to have moved on other grid related projects. We would have certainly appreciated a communication from him.

The online check does nothing more than check if the scheduler responds to requests. In this case, the response is the 'buy this domain' page, but it's still a valid response.
