Why is DynaPing figuring as a retired project? Did I miss anything?

You missed the 7-days lasting farewell party called Goodbye DynaPing.

There was an explanation listed on the project's home page, but now that the domain is unreachable ... you'll have to ask Willy

Apparently they couldn't solve their problems ... more hosts attaching to the project led to LESS accurate results.

The way we set it up just didn't work properly. The more hosts were added, the more the server struggled to keep up. It was not like a "normal" BOINC project where hosts talk to the server every hour or so, or even ever 15 minutes. Hosts talked to the server almost every minute.

We tried to fix it for about half a year, but then decided it was leading nowhere, so we eventually took the project down when the domain name expired.

Thanks for the response.

Yet, the idea behind the project had merit. Do you intend to pursue it in another form in the future?

TIA

Maybe. We preserved the code.

But we will need more and more powerful servers at more than one data center. That means it'll cost money, lots of it.
