I think it is time to retire VGTU. No work since July 2013 and no posts from the admin since September 2013.

IMHO, You are too fast (or without enough patience).
I will contact project leader and inform him about this situation. And, of course, I will ask about plans for the future.

Long time ago I were very new BOINC user without any knowledge about projects etc. On joining, I selected maybe several different projects and tried to crunch for them. Sadly, all these had no available work units. So, I removed BOINC Manager from my computer as stupid and useless software.

Only after few time I had second try. It was a little bit more successful, but patience was necessary to find alive projects.

Of course, it is sad, that famous BOINC project in my country is sleeping again, but I agree with Willy and, in my personal opinion, frozen projects are one of the main barrier for popularity of BOINC.

Imagine someone putting up a poster asking people to go to their house to help them. BOINCStats and BAM! then advertise this request around millions of keen volunteers. You see the request in BAM! and go to the person's house but they do not answer the door. Eventually, after trying for 18 months, you find out half the town regularly goes to this person's house and they are all ignored. How would you feel every time you saw the poster "Please help me" on BAM! or BOINCStats?

Willy does not kill the project, the owners do so by not looking after it. It just takes an occasional news update to keep a project 'alive' for years. But when there is silence on their home page and no updates on the forum it causes:

- thousands of people to keep checking to look for them from time to time who were once crunching for them;
- frustration for new people starting up so they go away and never come back;
- a bad reputation for distributed processing;
- wasted processor time, disk space and bandwidth;
- it makes BOINCStats and BAM! look bad.

People do distributed processing to get results, not to watch a project owner ignore a project for month after month after month after month. Willy is far more patient that me, I would only give a project four months.

Well, looks like it's back alive with a brand new app:

12 Dec 2015, 2:17:33 UTC New application
Dear VGTU@Home users,

We would like to announce a new beginning of our project. We have finally managed to find and develop a true scientific application for our project. With your help, we hope to obtain interesting results!

New WUs were already created.

There's a little quirk about that projet, VGTU was formerly known here as VTU@Home and pointed to vgtu.lt internet domain; here the vtu@home should have been revived as VGTU. So now VTU@home should be removed from retired projects.

If possible the credits associated to VTU@Home should appear as VGTU Project credits for users who have it and havent yet crunched for 'new' vgtu.

Ok, I've just been told by a member of my team that it is not the same project, however I see the credits for vtu@home, which are on the same server, been "continued" as vgtu@home project; they have created a confusion.

Finally I dont know what to say about that, confused at least

I guess we have to consider vtu as a previous subproject of vgtu.

I will try to explain something.
VGTU@home is a separate or "new" project, because it was impossible to continue previous project VTU@home due some serious problems:
- old VTU@home server crashed due fatal hardware malfunction;
- at the moment of this crash ex- project admin was not present at VGTU (AFAIK he "dissapeared" to unknown location);
- new admin was not able to find backups (AFAIK backups were lost) etc.
So, there was no choice excluding one - to start a new project.

Thanks metalius for the explanation it is me that made wrong conclusions without verifying enough, I apologize for any trouble I might have introduced in forum. I've corrected my posts in my team's forum too.

Was returning from long trip in car and should have waited a good night of sleep before doing any posting
