I have used the command line version of BOINC on Ubuntu since Ubuntu was Launched and have never had a problem.

@laird: If you're running a GUI anyway idk. The comparison would be CLI only w/ boinctui vs GUI install, I dont have numbers.

We know that running a GUI adds resource overhead, some of them considerably so. LxQt vs KDE/GNOME would also be interesting.

If one of my machine's sole purpose is crunching, it's CLI only and "mitigations=off", even if only 2-5%, I think it's worth it.
