Some time ago, NFS@home changed its master URL to https, as did Einstein@Home three days ago. More recent BOINC clients can automatically change the project master URL from http to https if this is the only change. While this mechanism eliminates annoying "This project is using an old URL" messages, it appears to be not fully compatible with BAM!

I usually suspend/resume/set no new work/allow more work for a project locally. Normally, BAM! adopts these local changes at the next contact, unless I also change something in BAM! However, for the two projects with automatically updated URLs, the local settings are always overwritten with the BAM! settings.

(Originally posted in ShoutBox but was directed here.)

I'm getting the same "This project is using an old URL" message from Einstein. Please update your URLs for Einstein to use HTTPS. This includes the project links on the BAM website.

That's it; I can't take it anymore. I'm going to leave BAM when I build my next PCs. I can't believe this account manager is still forcing insecure HTTP connections. I tried the shout box four times and nobody listened. All bug reports have to funnel through one man. The rest of the world (incl. Wikipedia) moved to HTTPS shortly after the Snowdan revelations.

Einstein was switched to https here some time ago, after that it didn't work properly anymore with BAM!. The project itself suggested to revert to http until further notice.

Do you have a ticket open with the Einstein people, or a forum thread?

I now see that they did another attempt at switching to https. I've updated BAM! as well, let me know how that goes.

Sidenote: Only the master url for the client has been changed, BAM! already "talked" to Einstein over https.

I have waited a day and rebooted, but in BOINC Manager, I'm seeing a project status for Einstein of "Won't get new tasks, Will remove when tasks done". (Which, by the way, is a run-on sentence; the developer of the BOINC Manager needs to check their English grammar.) However, my tasks are done and it hasn't detached from HTTP Einstein. At the command line, from running "boinccmd --get_state", I see much the same thing: "don't request more work: yes".

So, all Einstein hosts that use BAM might now be stopping work, yet not reconnecting to the HTTPS server...?

Note that, in the Shoutbox, @hawkless1 reported that Asteroid@home also needs to be switched from HTTP to HTTPS in BAM.

Oh, I see. I just had to manually synchronize my hosts with BAM twice, rather than wait 48 hours for it to do so automatically. Einstein appears to now be working for me from the HTTPS URL. Thank you very much! Perhaps NFS and Asteroid can be fixed too?

hello at all,

now i have a little bit of time to spend for boinc /Asteroids@home

is there a step list, what is to do in the right order, so the massages "Asteroids@home: Notice from BOINC: You are attached to this project twice." get a end?
i only attached the Projects via BAM to my Boinc
i have NO project manualy attached

My Sytem:
OS: kubuntu (last Build, up to date)
Boinc: 7.18.1

is there also a working workaround?

best Ester regards

new info:

i detach Asteroids via BAM an synced with Boinc, i attach it manualy all is right, no massages that i am connected twice.
then
i detached it in Boinc and attached it again in BAM. after Sync with BAM! in the Projekt list stands at first "http://asteroids..." the Problem is in BAM there is the URL not changed!

I think an Admin shuld do his work! the problem ist still 2018 Kown.
