I have 3 project preferences: Default, Home and Work.

They saved for all projects I attached and in BAM!

When I update WCG in BOINC CC all preferences downloaded and saved as global_prefs.xml file in BOINC dir.

But when I update BAM! in BOINC CC all preferences except default are missed.

Is this a problem with BAM! or BOINC CC? Please help me!

I use 5.7.5 BOINC and 18 projects.
WinXP SP2 Pro.

There is a log:

I think that the new BOINC CC uses by default the per host preferences. And since BAM! supports them and you are using a 5.7 client they override your global preferences.

Just before this problem I created an account for WCG project. Then I searched it in Sign-up for projects page of BAM and attached it for my 'home' host. Then I updated BOINC CC and I saw that some of other projects I attached has lost a home venue for the host.
I tried to update all projects, set home venue for the host but it always was reseted to default. I think it was because WCG has no preferences for default, home, etc. So I created its at the WCG site because they did not saved by BAM (another bug?).
Then I repeated update for host and it seems home venue was set in all projects for the host.
And when I sinchronized BOINC CC with BAM all prefs from global_prefs.xml file were deleted (only default there). But if I update a project with BOINC CC i.e. Einstein@Home all my prefs are again here.

I think that the new BOINC CC uses by default the per host preferences. And since BAM! supports them and you are using a 5.7 client they override your global preferences.

How can I set global prefs for the host?

Go the host list page. Then click on the host for which you want to set preferences and then click on the link " View host specific preference" just underneath the "Set" button. This will take you to a page form where you can edit the specific preferences for this host.

How can I get rid of host-specific prefs, and use global ones instead?

I think currently you cannot At least there is no settings in the BOINC CC to do so.

I asked for the feature, but it's not implemented yet.

On a side note, new hosts get the preferences before the venue and when the new venue is updated, it still retains the default preferences. It's then necessary to update the preferences for the new host to get the preferences corresponding to its venue.

However, the option to save preferences to projects only works if a preference is actually changed. So, to make this happen, it's necessary to edit a preference in BAM, save it and only then save the preferences to projects. Couldn't this be changed?

Thanks.

Thank you all for your help and info!

I reinstalled BOINC 5.6.5 and repeated all updates with all projects and BAM. And it seams all is OK now.

My "home" host hasn't this link now (it was there when all this happen) so I think now the host uses global prefs

But I have not fully understood, what there was with prefs and hosts of all this time.
