The member's name is "Ryan L. Booth". He said that he isn't doing anything to cause this put it seems to happen every week. Any help on this wound be great.

I am having a very similar problem that has been happening on and off for about 6 months. It appears randomly to one (or more) projects where I am suddenly not a member of my team any longer. (Team Sicituradastra.) At first it was jut peculiar, now it is affecting challenges and is very irritating. I can easily just add the team back, but why is it happening in the first place? It seems to only happen on certain projects (Asteroids, Collatz, Numbers and MilkyWay are the most frequent offenders) though there have been a couple of cases where another project pulled a one-time 'drop' along with one or more of the 'regular' projects that have been dropping.

What is more interesting is that when these drops happen to more than one project (as many as 4 have dropped at one time), they drop at exactly the same time (according to logs produced by Moon*, our fearless leader), so it is not likely done via the project, and has to be done via BAM! or some kind of bug related to BAM!?! I really doubt that anybody has pilfered my PW as they would then have access to ALL my BOINC accounts, yet they only play with the few that they do?! Not very likely. For the record, I have never, nor will I ever quit my team.

Perhaps my environment is unusual as I run, pretty much exclusively on laptops, and at that, they DO travel, a lot. So, there are no shortage of 'sleeping', shutting down, powering up, etc. (no hibernation for the most part). As such, using WiFi for 95% of my communications resulting in different isp's, dns servers and all that go with that (should not be a problem, but???). I do run vm's on a couple of the XM machines from time to time, usually when I need/want a Linux client for crunching purposes. Otherwise, my machines are Win7/8 (64-bit).

I see that nobody has addressed the initiating post here, so I am not sure if that bodes well for my plea. Any suggestions or ideas that might lead me to a resolution to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

One other item that I also need to mention is that this member of mine does not show up in the member list when I check to see what the team members are doing. But the interesting thing is when I look under the Project List tab, the team seems to get all the points that this member is doing.
You maybe be right that the bug is all to do with Bam!

It's a known issue with no solution yet because no problem has been found yet.

This started happening some time ago which makes me think it is an issue of the BOINC web code since nothing related to team membership had changed in the BAM! communications with the projects. However, David A. took a look at the BOINC web code and this should not be happening according to him. To be sure it was not BAM! I added team membership info in every BAM! communication with a project even though this was not necessary before. However, this did not help.

At the moment I'm logging these communications. What I need from you is the date and time when you were removed from the team and what BAM! was doing for you. I can then check what BAM! was sending to the project. If that is correct, it has to be a project issue, otherwise I have a problem to solve.

projects as well. Just as there are other members who has fallen
out in the same way. I hope you are able to find and fix this problem.

That's BAM! user 130321. For this user there is not a single log of BAM! updating anything at any project.

FYI, Collatz did the same to me again just now (last 15 min.)...

Re: not a single log updating anything? That also seems peculiar doesn't it? I am a steady user, even if it is on the low scale of crunching. I have a RAC of over 140k, so I'm doing something!!!! Perhaps I do not understand what it is that BAM does???

PS - Not sure if it helps or not, but when looking at the projects that have had this happen, only one do I use on a fairly regular basis (Collatz), the others usually only get used when there is a challenge going on or some such thing.

Well, pretty sure it's not a BAM! problem.

At 4:25UTC BAM! "talked" with Collatz, this is what was send:

You can see that BAM! includes the teamid in the URL (note: this is actually not necessary but I included it to battle this issue).

Then Collatz responds with:


At 4:48UTC there is another communication with Collatz with the same contents. Then some more in the next few hours, all with the same contents.

BAM! is including the correct team id. It has to be the project that is changing the team. Or somebody knows how to change your team at the project without you knowing it, but for that he needs to know your email+password or your account key or know a vulnerability in BOINC web code.

As this appears to be a bug in the BOINC server code that account managers use how can we help convince the BOINC dev team that it needs to be investigated and corrected?

I doubt anyone had my info, as they only messed with about 6 accounts; primarily Collatz, Asteroids, Milky Way and NFS. BTW, these 4 all did it again today!?

Seeing that you have similar issues, I note that I have most of my problems with EXACTLY the same projects/teams that you do!!!!!! I have never run Subset or QMC (yet), but, yes these are the SAME projects that remove me from the team!!! Not sure if this helps Willy or not...
