I just created a new Work Preference which is exactly the same as my Global scheme (which is a modified version of the default Global), but with a more restricted hour range. Since my Global scheme was already modified, I had to create my new scheme by making sure it was the same as Global, setting by setting, then edit the hours. Instead, I wish during adding a new work preference scheme, I could indicate that it should start with the values from an existing scheme, so that I can just change only what needs to be different.

And, wouldn't it be wonderful if those values inherited from another existing scheme would stay tied to that parent scheme, such that if they were to change in the parent scheme, all inheriting child schemes would get the same change... Just dreaming.

I was just looking at the various XML files in my BOINC data folder to educate myself. Wouldn't what I am asking simply be a matter of including in the proper "venue" section only the values that are different than the global settings for that venue, as opposed to every setting, including the unchanged ones? Wouldn't that be a simple implementation of saying "inherit global settings, but modify these N values"?
