Willy previously added this feature:

Added code to BAM! to remove projects (from clients) that have a new URL. This is necessary because without removing it first, the client can’t attach to the new URL.

How does this handle work-in-progress? Does it detach straight away so aborting anything in progress?

When the URL of CPDN changed some months ago, the old URL still worked, so it was possible to finish the WUs before switching over.

It disconnects right away. But it's only used when the old URL doesn't work anymore.

Current BOINC client doesn't support draining the queue before a detach (it will with the next version).
Please do not PM, IM or email me for support (they will go unread/ignored). Use the forum for support.
