Somehow BAM has gotten itself messed up and I somehow have two "accounts" with SETI. The ONLY difference between them is for one the first letter of my email address is capitalized and in the other it is not. The capitalized account is the correct one.

When I build a new machine and install Boinc and attach to BAM as project manager, it defaults to the lower case one though.

Any suggestions, short of attaching to SETI manually, then attaching to BAM?

I've been discussing this over on the SETI boards and they say it's something I need to bring here.... the link to the SETI discussion is:

Thanks!

Your email address should be in all lowercase letters at all projects. Some projects will automatically fix this for you but from your post appearently SETI is not.

So BAM converts to lowercase? That's how I got two accounts at SETI then. To them Myemail@somewhere.net is different than myemail@somewhere.net and I didn't know any better when I set up my account.

How do I fix this? All of my accumulated points for SETI are under the capitalized email address and I'd rather not change to the lower case one. I'm guessing I'll have to attach manually to them then hook up with BAM.

When I changed user name, BAM sent all lower case and I had to go to all my projects and manually change the user name to uppercase where appropriate. Perhaps that would be a remedy.

„The local-part of a mailbox MUST BE treated as case sensitive." RFC2821 ;-)
There are mailsystems that treat john.keck@example.invalid and John.Keck@example.invalid as different users.

So, until and unless BAM changes so that it doesn't convert email addresses to all lower case, I'll attach to SETI manually then attach to BAM.

I've read all over everywhere and I don't see this little tidbit mentioned anywhere, so I don't feel TOO bad about not knowing it.

BAM! isn't going to change. The communication between BAM! and the projects expects the email address to be in lowercase.

Gotcha,

You might want to include this in a FAQ somewhere. As NJMHoffmann pointed out, it's common for email addresses to be case sensitive nowdays. I'm guessing this is part of why I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting credit from SETI here for a while at the start.

Anyway, no big deal, I'll do it by hand.
