I'm not sure if this can be solved here or through BOINC Alpha Test. Or Maybe both.

We have a sync for Retired Projects which sync them here but not the Projects. Which mean if they start back up will be overwritten. I sync mine and it worked. Good job on that one.

I have been having a CPID problem since November, 8th, 2006 and was wondering since my Host are seesawing the CPIDs at the Projects and connect to BAM if it could be possible to have a Sync CPIDs for Hosts (e.g. My main CPID would sync my Hosts). At lease the active ones.

If this is possible, The sync with BAM should clear up most CPID problems.

OK What do you Think? Can it be done?

Thanks

Bill

I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

But if you mean using BAM! to change the CPID of your account at a project: that is not possible.

Hi Willy,

No Not at the Projects, at the host. My hosts for example have several CPIDs/CPID Hash in each one. If I knew how to change the hash manually, I would try to do it locally.

If there was a sync setting in BAM to Sync each host to my main CPID (e.g.b65....,,) then my hosts wouldn't be seesawing the Project CPIDs back and forth.

Right now the only way is to detach from all projects, loose all my work and attach each host back to the project one at a time with the host that has the b65..hash. This would take months to search out the hash on 14 hosts with 70 projects attached. Then once I get all the projects to b65......, uninstall BOINC Manager, Delete BOINC Folder, rename all my hosts and install and attach to each project one at a time with the other 13 host.

I just thought since it was possible to sync the retired projects at BOINCStats, It would be possible to sync hosts with BAM.

I have all my 14 hosts attached to BAM and 16 at some of the projects where that won't let you merge or delete. The 2 aren't causing problems with CPIDs since they aren't connecting anymore. In my host stats in my BAM account I have from 15 to as high as 55 hosts with stats.

I have about 600K credits, yet my User Stats range from 200k to 450k depending on the updates.

If I set the Credit Target to 1M it calculates -41.72 days on December 29 2007 my user stats right now is 363k.

My daily highs are:

Best five days
Date Credit
2007-10-30 215,367
2008-01-29 169,646
2007-12-31 152,960
2007-07-10 148,539
2008-01-06 147,058

It's really not a big deal as for running the projects, just an inconvienence by not knowing user stats. I've had this problem for 15 months and have learned to live with it. The team stats are ok.

Hoping for a Fix. Thanks for your interest and time.

Bill

Edited:

I do have another question. If my hosts are changing the CPIDs at the projects as they connect to the server, why can't BAM. Just wondering.

Syncing retired projects is a way different thing from changing the (user)CPID of a host. One is just a update in a database table, the other involves sending out the CPID to the host via an RPC and then the host has to process it.

That processing by the host is the problem, this is currently not implemented. It can of course be implemented but that is not done by me, I will suggest it to the devs though. It should be easy the implement since (like you say) the projects can do it.
