I'd like to detach from one of the projects I'm running but let all my hosts finish processing any existing work units they have from the project. What is the best way to do that?

I know if I go into a hosts settings from the Host List then it gives me the option for a "delayed detach" which sounds like what I want but can I set that globally for all my hosts? I don't really want to have to go into every host to check that box.

I guess what I'm looking for is the correct or best procedure for detaching from a project.

Thanks!

I beleive the best way to accomplish what you seek is to set the project to no new work(or tasks). Have never used delayed detach so not quite sure how it works. When your projects have finished their tasks, you can then safely detach without the delay.

Wait until are your hosts are finished with their WUs for that project (if you want to -- there's no harm done aborting tasks), then go to your Project Resources page ( http://boincstats.com/bam/resources.php) and select "Detach ALL Hosts Now".

OR

Do what you don't want to and visit each host ... you're going to have to do that anyway if you want to set them to "No New Work".

There is no DELAYED Detach ALL function as far as I know, which is really what you want.

If you go to the Project resources page and click on the "Show hosts" icon next to the project in question, you can set "Delayed detach" on all your hosts for that project with a minimum of mouse clicks.

When, then, will the detach actually occur?

Hey! Cool! I never saw that before

Skivelitis, they will detach AFTER all WUs for the project in question are finished.

Thanks guys and especially noderaser! That's exactly what I was looking for.
