BOINC@Australia

BOINC@Australia is the top Australian team participating in BOINC distributed computing projects, giving a definite Aussie Presence.

BOINC@Australia has a team in all the BOINC projects listed on this page. Join us in one or more of them to help the advancement of science and advance an Aussie team in the ranks of contributors.
Who can join our team?

Whether you are contributing a little to one project with one old computer or participate in several projects with a building full of the latest equipment, we welcome your contribution.

While our emphasis is on Australians living anywhere in the world (including Australia) and anyone living in, or having some connection with Australia, anyone is welcome to join us.
Help us keep the momentum going

At last count there were over 12,500 Australian participants in combined BOINC projects, spread across more than 500 Australian teams, with BOINC@Australia leading the pack on both the total combined BOINC credits and recent average credit (RAC).

We are over two million credits ahead of the second ranked Aussie team and hovering around 40th globally (see BOINCStats) Why set up another Aussie team when our combined computing power can get the best placed Aussie team inside the top 41 worldwide?

As the song goes: "Come on Aussie come on, come on".

G'day crunchers everywhere!

We are now starting Aussie Assault 6 (AA6). After being runner up in the last few polls for the AA, Einstein has been chosen to be the project which will receive our concentrated attention for the next few weeks.

Bruce Allen who is the Forum moderator, Project administrator, Project developer and Project scientist for Einstein has agreed, after much persuasion from members of the Team, and instigated by Mike Mitchell, to crunch Einstein for our Team. He has started this already and his numbers are very impressive.

The Aussie Assaults are a regular team-building exercise we run here at BOINC@AUSTRALIA - the results are always impressive and we have great fun at the same time. In the last Assault (on ABC@Home) another team - l'Alliance Francophone - learnt how much fun these assaults can be and helped both BOINC@AUSTRALIA and the project itself achieve spectacular results.
(overview of that assault here.)

So - Gentlemen - START YOUR ENGINES !!!

Calling all members of BOINC@AUSTRALIA!

You may be aware that Aussie Assault 7 is due to begin (on 01 June) and will run until 14 June.
The target is WCG - World Community Grid. This project actually crunches four separate causes:-
1) Fight Aids at home
2) Genome comparison
3) Human Proteome folding
4) Help cure Muscular Dystrophy

WCG is slightly different to the other BOINC projects. If you have any difficulty attaching, check the team forum.
Help is available!

Any other 'homeless' crunchers out there who would like to join in the fun, feel free - we are the No.1 Australian team,
currently in 18th position Combined Boinc World ranking.
Visit the team forum here for more details about the team.

G'Day Crunchers Everywhere!

Aussie Assault Number 9 is on the starting blocks and this time the target is QMC@Home.
The team will be concentrating a significant portion of their processing power on that project from
October 1st for the following two weeks.

Aussies anywhere in the world - if you are teamless, come and join us! We have a great team website where
you can get all the support (both moral and technical!) that you need. Just click on the team logo in my sig and
follow the links to the forum.

And of course, the invite is open to non-Aussies too! (hey, I'm a 100% Pom and they let me in.....)

The starting gun goes off at Midnight Sunday local time for all the team.

Aussie Assault 8 was hard work because SETI had problems but QMC has a good track record
for reliability. Let's hope we have a good Assault this time!
