I've been crunching with boinc@hull for a while but have not found out how to contact other members of the team.

There are so many signed up to boinc@hull but no longer crunching and I'm sure they must have had good intentions but lost the will to keep going by the deafening silence and lack of encouragement.

How do we correspond ? Our captain is incommunicado and his website proclaims it's own demise. It's easy to get despondent out here in the dark cold night.

Anyone any ideas on team communications, I've probably missed something very obvious but don't have much time to look around.

From late 2001 to April 2007 I crunched for United Devices (GRID.org) and we did more than 500,000 YEARS worth of crunching and then, as some of you will remember, we all got dumped on. The good thing about UD was the communication between crunchers.

WOW 131 reads so far. Sorry the content isn't very inspiring.

I really would like help and instructions on how to contact other members in our team, it would be very gratefully received.

How do you guys receive communications from the team and talk between members ?

The team founder has all member's emails. . . beyond that, unless your team has a MB, you are SOL.

Team BOINCstats uses this MB, PM's and two members-only forums to keep our group in the loop.

You could always look here to see what projects the active members are crunching, then sign in to those projects and try to add those people as friends there. Then, if they accept, you will be able to send them private messages through the projects. That does suppose that those people sign in their accounts on the projects now and then and accept you as friend.

Can't really think of any other ways.

Mark

Thanks for the info, guys.

Our founder may have lost interest and therefore access to all the member emails is also lost.
I have made an account HERE and hope members of boinc@hull reading this will drop by and leave a message or PM me.
It doesn't really address the question of how to contact all the inactive members.

I wonder if teams have any other privileged members other that the Founder ? Someone must be in control of setting up teams and have access to member details.

Lazarus-uk, I'll also give your suggestion a go and see if I have any luck.

Thanks again.

if the founder really lost interest you can test that and at the same time "save" the team.

Go to a few projects (to start with, when it's successful do them all), go to your team page and ask for a team founder transfer.

Now three things can happen:

  1. he denies it, meaning he wants to stay in control. Send him a PM at the projects he denies it.
  2. he allows it, meaning he lost interest. You're the new team founder and you can start building the team
  3. he does nothing, which after three months results in #2.

Please do not PM, IM or email me for support (they will go unread/ignored). Use the forum for support.

Yep ! That did it.

I put in for a for a team founder transfer on Einstein & LHC and got an instant refusal.

Now I know he is alive, I will try to PM or email him and arrange to contact all members and point them to a forum or Google group where we can all talk together without the need for someone to take on loads of work, from there we could send out emails to all members to renew interest and get this thing kicked into action. + I must reassure him I wasn't trying to mutiny.

Thanks for the help and I will let you know how it all pans out.

We are too few and the potential so big that I feel the next most important step is to get this thing spreading throughout the world and onto every computer as standard.

YE HA !!
