Hi all,

I’m looking at using a liquid cooling system to eliminate some more of the fan noise (and increase stability) on my AMD Phenom 9550.
The processor is inside my HP m9365 and the specs for both the motherboard and whole system specs can be found at these links-

System

Ideally I want a pre built kit that could be self contained within the case and my max budget is about £120. Also a retailer (either online or in store) in the UK would be preferred.

So far the best I have found are on scan.co.uk (link) although any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks,
James

Oh and just to cover myself....I don't work for HP but I do think their some of the best bets you can go with at the moment (compare to dell )

Hi James
I just bought a Thermaltake Bigwater 760i system for my Q9550 LGA 775 socket and am very impressed with the quality and workmanship I see so far.It also can be used on an AMD AM2 socket. I have pretested it for leaks or problems and have found none. The cooling block is copper, and has a quick disconnect that works nicely. It only took about 10 minutes to set-up and try out.As far as its cooling abilities I will let you know when the build is complete in the next day or 2 . The tank and cooling fan sit inside a 2U bay and the system is all internal.

I bought it here in the states for 130$ and have a 30$ mail in rebate coming. This was purchased at a local electronics superstore. I see in the link you listed they do not carry Thermaltake products so I posted to make you aware Happy shopping and Good Luck-Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the recommendation, found one for a similar price in the UK however I saw on the company website a mention of ‘Dual 5.25 Drive Bay design’ and I only have a single 5.25 bay spare (with a Blu ray drive above it and the HP PMD bay underneath it).
After that there is very little space in the case, ideally I could do with something that goes directly from the CPU to a 120mm fan.

Thanks,
James

James

I don't think you are going to find anything that does adequate cooling that fits your bill. Internal systems need a place to put the radiator, pump, reservoir and a way to force the heat out of the box....too small a system will not work as well as a good CPU fan cooler. Your only other option is an external system......remember just because you are 'water-cooling' doesn't necessarily mean you are more efficient than air-cooling

Looks like an external device is the way forwards then, many thanks for your help.
