Not sure Dirk. Perhaps contacting Willy to see if there is any way of figuring out why it happened to some and not all...

It is clear to mee that I collected a lot of 'bonus' in the week before the challenge-and even in the months before. I can not crunch fast enough to catch up with the old total before the end of this challenge.

According to Citizes I currently have over 1 million according to the challenge stats I have 350,541. Hopefully it will all get straightened out before the end of the challenge. I am not going to worry about it though the purpose of the challange was to test the new server.

Citizen Science Grid combined credit 1,082,229
Citizen Science Grid recent average credit 128,786
DNA@Home credit 172,916 total, 13,429.71 average (5169 tasks)
SubsetSum@Home credit 909,313 total, 72,976.53 average (16421 tasks)

Yes, my team has taken a hit.
However, I guess it will sort out. According to team stats, my team has achieved 36.760 points, while I have been credited 130.148. So I guess when the system add up all member credits, we might show up among top 10 again.

Yeah...my team just dropped to 12th as well. Definitely a screwy situation.

When your numbers stat from 0 again, does it really matter? Especially when not everyone's stats are starting over at the same time...

Nope, doesn't matter at all. Going to be difficult to judge the stress on the server etc. as we currently have no way of knowing how much any team or individual is pushing this project. You may have to consider calling the challenge again at a latter date.

I can see the point of a challenge which stress tests a project by throwing a sudden demand at it. But stress testing the loyalty and patience of volunteers by recalculating their historical credits on day 2 of the project, in a way that means that newbies like me will take only a modest hit, but long term stalwarts will lose so many credits that, for them the challenge is over, might be considered discourteous and self-defeating! If nothing else it seems to have killed the team part of the challenge

So, since the stats are all screwy and not representing the contributions the teams have really committed, what does everyone think about having a phase 2 challenge? We will finish this one out as there may be more things that pop up during this test. However, possibly run it again once Travis thinks he has a good point system stabilized. Thoughts?

I entered this challenge very open minded, prepared for all sorts of problems. well, we found some.
As far as I have seen, the workflow has been ok though.
A phase two challenge seems like a good idea.

Recent news post from Travis: Here's an update as to the current DNA@Home credit situation. First, I apologize for credit ending up being less than what was being shown in the combined totals. Sadly this was a problem that snuck up on me in the transition as it wasn't apparent at the beginning of the changeover to the new server.

Right now I'm stopping the current DNA@Home runs to let all these workunits come back in and get credit. While this is going on I'll be updating the DNA@Home daemons to work as fixed credit. I expect that credit awarded should be on the order of 2x-3x what you're currently seeing once fixed credit is implemented. Once the current DNA@Home workunits have cleared out of the system, I'll start up a new batch of runs using fixed credit. Unfortunately there's not a good way to have a mix of fixed and non-fixed credit workunits running concurrently.

Let me know if you have any questions and hopefully this will end up being a good solution.

We soon enter th last day. It would been ok if the team credits would sum up correct.
Just for Reference, my team has at the time writing this, 279K.
I have been credited 268K. My team miss some Points.

Sad to see how a team can go from 330,659 to 18,486 in the last few hours. As far as stress testing the load, it an almost success. Something is stressed here just not sure what. lol Looks like someone has some work to do.

Yeah.. I think the issue with the stats is that BS is flawed in its design. I can't do better, but that isn't the point. I've already ran it by Travis and we will have a Phase 2 of the challenge. I plan on waiting until after PrimeGrid's upcoming challenge and see how crowded June looks. It may be a July challenge.

Thank you everyone for your contributions. I think other than the points issue, the challenge was a success. Again, we plan on having a Phase 2 which will most likely be in July. Stay tuned.
