It will be comfortable to have possibility for any user to set own "home" timezone.
If it does, all times in forum, in stats, and in bam (contact and update times) will show in own timezone.

Now it is so hard for me to convert every time to my time.

The good thing about using UTC is, all know what they are talking about. If you have your own timezone in the forum, and say something about a certain event, you always have to say what's that in relation to the official UTC, so why not leave it all in UTC, everybody has the same time zone, no problems with "When is in the morning for you?"

That's nice for conversing with other people but certainly it would be more convenient when you didn't have to make a conversion for every post timestamp you see? Of course this may be too difficult to do on pages which are cached, but this ought to be possible on forums at least. Then it would be another feature we could add that BOINC forums shares with the majority of other forum software.

Truthfully the best place for forum changes would be to do it through BOINC/Trac, unless Rytis happens to come across this

He just did

I don't think that time offset is going to be put into the official code, at least not soon, there are more pressing matters to deal with fast.

Would it be possible to put the current UTC date and time above the shoutbox? That way we could have some idea of what the UTC time is without having to do the math. Even something that was updated when the page is refreshed would be nice.

It is already there, it's in the Status part, it's the "BOINCstats server time:" (or whatever it is in your language).
