As I was awaiting the latest update to observe your implementation of the 24 hour statistics; I noticed that your time since last update - might be incorrect.

If it takes 1 hour to process the data from the update, then the clock is correct and I wasted your time with this post.

If the update is fairly instantaneous, then your clock is set at British Summer Time and not GMT as it is one hour ahead of GMT.

By-the-by, I am impressed that you decided to attempt the change to the statiistics so quickly. It will be very interesting to observe once you have it working - especially with people like myself where I do not rate SetiBOINC as very important and seem to complete 1 W.U. for Seti every 3 days or so. If there are more like myself, that rate other BOINC projects as more important than Seti, or more than likely, vice versa, then it would be interesting to observe if there are slight increases in the daily user statistics every 3 to 5 days.

You could be correct with the time-thingy, but I'm Dutch, sitting behind the computer with one finger in the dike, doing the best I can

My calculation of time is based on the fact that it is one hour later in the Netherlands then in England (The great United Kingdom that is). As Greenwich is in England, I assume England time = Greenwich time = GMT. But I might be wrong.

Update part 1 starts at 18:30 Dutch time (= 17:30GMT). This updates all the projects. Update part 2 starts at 19:30 Dutch time (18:30GMT), this updates the BOINC totals. It's finished somewhere 19:35~19:55 Dutch time.

So Richard, are my times correct. If not, please correct me, and I change it on the site!

Howdy Willy:

While European Central Time Zone (ECT) is 1 hour ahead of British Standard Time Zone (BTZ) which is equal to GMT/ZULU/UTC; when Europe and Britain change to Summer time; then European Central Summer Time Zone (ECST) is 2 hours ahead of GMT and 1 hour ahead of British Summer Time Zone (BST) which, itself, is 1 hour ahead of GMT.

As your site is in the European Central Time Zone; why not just use local time and let the rest of us convert instead of you converting and the rest of us converting your conversion? If you feel the need, then you could always state if your time is 1 or 2 hours ahead of GMT/Zulu/UTC - depending if it is Standard or Summer time.

P.S. You'll have to tell me where you are plugging the hole in the dike so when I next visit Germany; I can quickly come by and take a photograph. Whenever I was in the Netherlands; I never was fortunate to see and photograph anyone with their finger plugging a leaking dike. Do you often change fingers to stop the wrinkling of the skin?

Just to make sure you can a least imagine how it must look like:

Sorry to harp on about the time, but being of German descent...

Whereas the front page seems to be correct, I have noticed the following in the forum when I post.

Mountain Daylight Time is 6 hours behind G.M.T and 8 hours behind Central European Summer Time.. Yet, when I post, the post seems to be about 15½ hours ahead instead of 6 or 8.

I know you have more important things to do and, in truth, I find the difference rather convenient as I now look through the forum for posts dated a day ahead of what they should be. However, as we Germans tend to be fixated on precision...

As well, would you mind either placing a space between Forum and F.A.Q. on the front page as I am tending to hit F.A.Q. too often - so it looks like:

BOINCstats Forum

BOINCstats F.A.Q.

or, change BOINCstats Forum to Green and BOINCstats F.A.Q. to another colour, red/yellow/fuschia?

My thanks and keep up the good work - I imagine the water pressure is mounting now that the Shout Box has been added.

BOINCstats is now running on a USA based server, maintained by Dutchmen. I’m still struggling to find the right server time. There is a gap of a few hours between the file dates, the server dates, and the forum date.

I'll put an empty line between the forum and the F.A.Q. on the frontpage.

Thanks for the quick work on the spacing.

If you are now based in the U.S.; perhaps it would be easier to just use local time and then the appropriate time zone acronym behind it - I assume the server is neither in Alaska nor Hawai`i, therefore:

PST/PDT, MST/MDT, CST/CDT, EST/EDT;

or if you dont want to worry about standard/daylight conversions then just

Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern and grab the time from the server.
