It would only have to be for retired projects, and projects that don't support merging hosts such as World Community Grid. I understand that adding this feature for active projects would just get reset with each stats update, but perhaps there is a workaround that could be used with WCG?

Retired hosts are not included in the combined stats. Or do you want to merge them within projects?

Hmm, guess I didn't notice that--I was mostly looking at the "orphaned" hosts that are caused by WCG (doesn't allow "merging" or "deleting" hosts) and projects that are pretty much dead/retired such as Renderfarm.fi.

I think my explanation was a tiny bit incorrect.

Hosts from retired projects are not included in the combined stats. Retired/orphaned hosts are.

I would have to to change the import to allow merging otherwise they would be split on every import.

This has to stew a little bit in the back of my brain.

The BEST solution would be to get WCG to implement a host merge/delete feature, but that's not likely to happen. And, if we don't see any "signs of life" from Renderfarm soon, you may as well mark them retired. No work since spring, and even then it was seemingly a ghost project running itself with absolutely no input or response from the project admins. The BOINC pages that deal with host management have been broken since the "new" website was implemented around February 2013.

Thanks for your time and consideration, I know you put in a lot of thankless work on this endeavor.
