I tried to go through Host list and clicking Show all hosts to see all the 85 machines I ever managed, but that didn't work: http://boincstats.com/en/forum/18/10045

So, instead I went through My detailed stats, clicked on Link to users host stats icon, which gave me my 85 hosts. Good.

But, the names are missing. It is impossible to tell what machine each entry belongs to by looking at something like "Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Quad CPU Q9000 @ 2.00 GHz" from a decade ago, but something like "TUNAE-DEV-DELL" would help me remember. When I go to SETI@Home website, look at my computers, and ask for inactive ones, I get pages and pages with the computer names. Is that information about computer name only stored at project sites and not in the BOINCstats database? But, then again, even the names of my current machines known to BAM! are not displayed here, and also not displayed if I were to drill into the stats of a host by clicking the stats icon on this page.

While doing this, I also noticed something else. When I click on the stats of a really old host, I see things like "First seen on 2011-06-02", which is probably the first WU returned by that machine, thus the correct date. However, if I were to drill into the stats of one of my current machines, I see things like "First seen on 2015-04-02", which is most likely the date this machine joined BAM! and not the date the machine started returning WUs (the machine I am typing this post on existed since 9 Oct 2010, but BS details on it says 2015-04-02). I think showing the BAM!-age is not the right choice. Otherwise, it looks like this machine collected 40,189,815.11 credits in only 23 days! I think the age of the machine should be within the BOINC-universe, and BAM!-universe should get its own entry, like a new "Managed by BAM! since".

Thanks for listening

Remember that boincstats.com is a public site showing all kinds of info for projects, users and hosts. The link to your hosts is a public link, I can also see the 85 hosts.
But the names of those hosts is private information and must not be shown in this page.

The BAM! part of boincstats.com is a private section, only you can see the info presented there if you have the right credentials. Some of the links in BAM! are however referring to the public information.

BAM! only shows host information for those hosts who are (or have been) connected to BAM!.

I agree, it would be nice to be able to see the names of all of your hosts in a BAM!-version of the public link. So, it's not a bug, but a wish

Fair. Here is a thought: Have the Show all hosts link on Host list point to the existing Link to users host stats page that already shows all the past & present machines, but have that page look at the referring page, and show a few extra columns including the actual host name (and whatever else might make sense that I cannot think about right now, but the real First Seen On would be a nice one, too, and all the other columns on the Host List page) only if it has been brought up from Show all hosts. No other page would need to change; the individual host stats pages can stay as privacy-safe as they are now. Wouldn't that be the minimum effort, highest gain, safest implementation?

Thanks

"First seen" is dud for hosts. It's the date the host first entered the stats. As you know the unique key for hosts is the CPID and there is a serious problem with the CPID. It changes when you type the keys "klet" in that order. Also, if you happen to look at your left screen with your right eye the host CPID changes. There are a lot more known and unknown reasons the CPID changes, I do not pretend to know all of them.

So, when the CPID changes (after you made a 360 degrees turn in your chair) the host is a new host for BOINCstats and the "first seen" date changes. I've tried several ways to detect and fix these but they do not work 100% correct.

Well, that's a bummer. I never liked BOINC's way of coming up with CPIDs...

But does your database have the names of the old machines that never used BAM! (like it has the CPU, OS, #cores/#threads)? I know BAM! knows the names of my current 8 machines, but how about the old machines? Did their names ever make it to you via project XMLs? If so, I still maintain that there should be a way of showing them to the user him/herself without making them public, and my suggestion before (or a subset of it) might be a good one as to how.

No, the host name and ip are not exported in the stats. Those files are publicly available so it would be a security/privacy risk.
