The user stats are a complete mess. While some tables and graphs do show correct credit numbers, others do not - and they do this even on the same page!

Todays stats are a good example:
The SETI stats .xml file was updated yesterday. My user stats page (http://www.boincstats.com/stats/user_graph.php?
pr=sah&id=65848) does show the updated credit in total credit line but does not show this credit in the table on the bottom or in the charts. Not so bad you might think, I already hear the mods posting rude messages stating that the "table is only updated after the daily update while the Total credit reflects the status after each incremental update".

Sounds logical, but is wrong. When I go to my total stats page (http://www.boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_graph.php?
pr=bo&id=f6b4d94c809388ce9502e1cea23ee4b4) the updated SETI credits are BOTH in the Total credit line and also in the table! AND the bar charts also DO show the current credit while the pie charts do NOT show it (the table and the bar charts do show the 7,000 extra SETI credits while the pie charts show 0% for SETI both for today and the week).

What's going on here?

Not sure exactly what is happening. Haven't seen any posts by Willy or anyone else, but I did notice that there haven't been any incremental updates in 14 hours. So something is amiss, but have patience, I'm sure that over the next few days it will get worked out...

Mark,

thanks for the try but there must be a major flaw in the way it calculates/imports/displays the data. How else can it display correct data on one page and old data on another one? How else can it display old and new data on the same page?

There is a bug somewhere that is getting worse every week. I already got used that the data are inconsistent until at least 4 hours after a daily update: At around 17.00 UTC they run the daily update. From 18.00 UTC on you will see the new data in the Total credit line. However, in the table the date advances to the current day but the data are still the old ones. At that time the graphics also display old data only. Sometime between 18.30 and 20.00 UTC the data in the table will be updated to the new ones. The graphics still remain at the old data-set. Only after another hour or so the graphics will reflect the data from the table.

More than once until that time another incremental update has already run and the Total credit becomes updated. Then you see the situation that there are 3 different data sets on one page: Old data in the graphics, New data from the daily update in the table and even newer data from the incremental update in the Total credit line.

But as I stated above, we learned to live with this. However, presently they add even more confusion with data not only not matching within one page but also between different summaries.

Not very convincing ...

While I'm no expert, I can give my best assessment :

The Stats pages are made of several Elements, depending on each other and requiring an increasing amount of time to complete their update.

That is due to ever-increasing server loads, at this time creating a time span of several hours before the Update of all Elements is fully complete.

Until the server is upgraded (see ongoing Fundraising Drive), this will actually get worse.

Once that is complete, I assume these Problems will vanish almost instantly or at least be significantly less visible.

On the positive side of things : during the timespan of 100% consistency (after approx. 2100 UTC, but your mileage may vary), you get the most comprehensive and well-presented BOINC Stats I know of.

Most inconsistencies are caused by database problems on the webserver.

Since a few weeks loading updated stats from the database server sometimes fail because the database (on the webserver) is overloaded. Stas load stops somewhere in the middle, and some projects are updated, others are not. It's an automated process, and it took me some time to find the exact error.

I hope/think/am sure that this problem will no longer exist when the new server is up.

As happened last night? I noticed that the pie charts didn't update last night, although everything else did, eventually.

Hopefully you'll reach the target soon and then you can get new machines in to help.

In the mean time, thanks for all you efforts so far.

It did indeed happen last night, and I had to restart the stats load three times before it succeeded
