BOINCStats machinery is having issues, and Willy is working hard over the holidays both to keep the current machines working by replacing hardware and to experiment with transferring everything to Amazon Web Services to get rid of all the actual maintenance at a (hopefully) reasonable monthly fee paid to Amazon. All of this is costing money and time. Right now, there is already a Bitcoin Utopia campaign going on for BOINCstats hardware maintenance – Part 2. It has been active since October, and has only 9 days left until it is concluded. It is just to help pay for the current machinery to survive. I for one have directed all my CPUs and GPUs at this project right now until it concludes. A few minutes ago, this is what the Server Status was for this project:

application unsent in progress avg runtime of last 100 results in h (min-max) users in last 24h
cgminer (Campaign #6) (for 1.6+GH/s ASICs) 3,716 3,037 0.18 (0.01 - 13.48) 58
cgminer (Campaign #6) (for 333MH/s ASICs) 2,291 1,829 0.16 (0.01 - 11.98) 34
cgminer (Campaign #6) (for 20+GH/s ASICs) 2,269 3,307 0.43 (0.03 - 5.64) 56
CudaMiner (Campaign #6) 2,135 936 0.46 (0.29 - 0.60) 61
CPUMiner (Campaign #6) 3,288 2,185 0.52 (0.00 - 1.17) 127
sgminer (Campaign #6) 2,880 1,213 0.04 (0.01 - 8.25) 60
bfgminer (Campaign #6) (for 20+GH/s Blade erupter ASICs) 209 44 0.03 (0.01 - 1.26) 3
cgminer-neoscrypt (Campaign #6) (for ATI/Nvidia OpenCL GPUs) 2,887 123 0.06 (0.01 - 1.15) 20

Specifically looking at the CPU & CUDA miners, I am seeing at best 61+127=188 active users, and with probable max overlap, at worst 127 active users. Given the size of the community using BOINCstats actively, this is small potatoes.

So, if you feel so inclined after reading this post, please consider joining this effort for the next 9 days to get the maximum bang for BOINCstats, and think of it as a small token of appreciation for Willy at this time of the year. To maximize the computing for BOINCstats, first go to Your Account on the project site, then use 'Preferences for this project' to select only the miners for Campaign #6 (depending on your hardware), then add Bitcoin Utopia to your list of projects if you haven't done so already, then connect it to all your hosts, then sync all your hosts with BAM!, and even maybe mark all projects on all hosts except for Bitcoin Utopia (and maybe except for WUprop) as No New Tasks. This would essentially allow your hosts to only get Bitcoin Utopia tasks only relevant to BOINCstats around the clock for your hardware, until you change the settings on January 5th to revert them to whatever they were before.

No, Willy has nothing to do with this post. I hope he won't delete it.

Thanks for listening
Tuna

Donating directly would probably go a lot further, if you are able.

I have been using this service off and on every time I take the notion to play around with BOINC. I like it way better than the other services. I am moving all my effort (what little it is) to Bitcoin mining for Boinc Stats. Thanks for this wonderful service!

I realize donating would go further, but unfortunately I am unable to do that. So the least I can do is donate some CPU time!

Looking at http://www.bitcoinutopia.com/2015/10/boincstats-hardware/#.VorsGBUrI-U, it seems the campaign sort of auto-extended itself to Jan 31 without Willy asking for an extension. That is good since the goal of €2100 was not yet achieved (sort of stuck just below €1600 given the reduced number of participants mining Bitcoins and the fluctuation in the XBT vs. EUR exchange rate). So, if you were about to or already have disconnected from this campaign thinking that it was winding down, well, no, it isn't.

Wholeheartedly agree. Just use the Donate page to send over some money for this site's upkeep. This way, you can use your machines & the electricity cost for actual science calculations rather than mining Bitcoins. Much simpler, more direct, more predictable and more useful for the science since it'll get more time on your machines.
