Why have I suddenly overtaken half the Einstein users? I've spotted a few other users who have also suddenly jumped, and none of us have anything like enough computing power to do so. In my case, I haven't used BOINC at all for just over a year. I came back and saw all the stats except Einstein working, went to Einstein's webpage, ticked the silly GDPR box, and the stats came in, but I'd somehow overtaken half the users while my computer wasn't doing any work?! Is it because Boincstats now isn't counting those who haven't ticked the box? Does the position get calculated by BOINCStats or by Einstein?

With checking the 'silly' GDPR-box you have given consent to export your stats into statistic-files accessible by the BOINC-aggregation web-sites like BOINCstats.

Many others didn't. BOINCstats can nothing do about it. Users not given consent are not in the contents of the stats-files (knowingly or unaware).

I'd guess 99% of them are just unaware. If they don't use a stats site, they would never have found out. It's a pity Einstein is doing this - most projects didn't bother. Apparently it's because it's in Germany and they have over the top laws. GDPR really isn't about some stats, it's about personal information - my address, my bank account details etc. Nobody cares that how much science they've done is public.

But anyway, can Boincstats not know the total number of Einstein users, including those who didn't tick the box? The list could then show "anonymous" for those who haven't ticked. Then we'd know what position we were really in. Currently it's like me running a marathon and they tell me I came 10th, when I was really 30th.
