Hi folks,
I've been running SETI@Home, then BOINC for years on several computers. One issue I've always had is figuring out whether all my computers that should be running BOINC are in fact turning in results every day. I've had times when one has had some issue where I need to fix something, but I don't see the problem for several days. So, I lose that compute time because I didn't get any notification that there was an issue.

I thought that boincstats might help me with this, but I haven't figured out how to get to my stats.

1) It took me a while to find the instructions on what new users should do. From boincstats.com, the only relevant thing I saw was "F.A.Q. / New here?" This took me to http://boincstats.com/page/faq.php, but I didn't see anything there for new users. It sure would be nice to have something less confusing to new users.

2) I poked around and finally got to http://boincstats.com/bam/. This did have instructions for users who are new to both BOINC and boincstats. There's a paragraph on what existing BOINC users should do, but both the links take me to the register page. I hoped for more detailed instructions on how to actually attach to an existing project.

3) I created an account and did what I thought was the right thing to attach to an existing project. (I went to that machine and followed the instructions I found at http://boincstats.com/bam/instruct_attach.php.) Then I went to boincstats.com and used the search box to look for my user name. It told me "Your search - *patmcgee* - did not match any user". How can I find my stats? More important, where are the instructions that would have told me this?

Thanks,

Pat

If you have already crunched for BOINC projects, you should use the same account name and email address to sign up for BAM... Before you can attach any projects that you've already got an account for, you will have to go in and change your address manually. Then go to "Sign-up for projects" in BAM, and check the "Find account" bubble next to each project you have an account for.

Hi noderaser,

Thanks much for the tip. Progress, but not success. I selected the projects I had already crunched on and did "Find Account". Now bam shows me my three projects in the Project List page.

But, when I go to the search box in the upper left of the bam screen, it still says "Your search - *patmcgee* - did not match any user". Just for grins, I also tried it with my email address. That didn't work either.

What else am I missing?

Thanks,

Pat

Your stats now show credit for Einstein, SETI, CPDN and WCG. Sometimes you have to wait for a database update. The stats are independent of BAM, however.

Maybe, it would be very helpful to search for the name you REALLY use, e.g. "pat mcgee" (without quotes). Did you notice the blank? And if you're not sure what your name is, uncheck the box "exact match". But it's a lot easier to find one of your postings and click on your name ;-))) Hope that helps.

I think patmcgee (without blanks ) was just a bit impatient. The trick with clicking the name in a posting didn't work before today (3 Feb ), I think because the stats import hadn't occured since pat's joining the site.

Ahh, know what you mean. But a search for "patmcgee" still results in the message "Your search - *patmcgee* - did not match any user", while a search over "pat mcgee" gives you four hits, no matter if you tick "exact match" or not.

Any time you are logged in, there should also be a "My BAM menu" on the left column, in this menu if you click "My detailed stats" it should take you to your stats page. It sometimes takes a couple days after signing up for everything to show up under one account.

If you have problems with a project or projects showing up, attach one of your computer to all the projects you have run. This will ensure you have the same user ID on all projects. After about a day or two the other projects should show up in your stats.
