It seems that after a bout of projects supporting ARM Linux, there seems to be a shift towards ARM Android instead, now that the BOINC client is officially supported on this platform. So I think that it's important to distinguish them.

Likewise, new ATI GPU applications seem to have abandoned ACL or Stream in favor of OpenCL and no project seems to support the old ATI APIs. nVidia GPU applications using CUDA seem to remain strong and, though new development tends to be on OpenCL, some projects still support only CUDA. So I think that I'll drop ATI and merge it into OpenCL and, instead of calling it nVidia, I'll call it CUDA. This way, if a modern GPU is available, it's bound to run the OpenCL application and, if it's by nVidia, it can run both OpenCL and CUDA.

Unfortunately, the Intel GPU, which can run OpenCL, is not widely supported and, though some projects have started supporting it, too few of them do. So, for the time being, I'll track it separately hoping to eventually fold it under OpenCL.

Also, note that OpenCL applications can run on either the GPU or the CPU, so they are not exclusively GPU applications.

Rationalizing the legend a bit. I'd really like to simplify the GPU legends. Though seemingly an OpenCL application can run either on AMD or on Intel GPU and either on the CPU or the GPU, BOINC identifies these variations very specifically, so projects have to add them individually, even if all such variations result in copies of the same file with different names. However, since a project might not be interested in running an application on a CPU, but only on a GPU, this is bound to stay around. Moreover, since projects don't trust that an AMD OpenCL application can correctly run on Intel, they need to confirm this by testing. So I believe that this legend overload will continue for a while until projects release OpenCL applications tested on CPU and GPU, AMD and Intel by default.

More on the OpenCL front, Collatz now offers OpenCL for AMD or Intel CPUs and GPUs, so things are going in the direction that I expected, though not yet a crystallized one. Then, I think that I'll be able to squash OpenCL to mean either AMD or Intel, CPU or GPU.
