for depspid -
The scheduler of DepSpid has been modified and now uses the alt_platform tag if it can't handle the default platform tag. This way the windows_x86_64 platform will get normal 32bit work.
The exact naming of the 64bit platform won't be a problem until a 64bit application is build for DepSpid.

http://www.bjoernhenke.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=509

Givin that Malaria Control has just updated to the latest BOINC server version, they to should now support the "alt platform". (32bit apps sent to 64bit clients)

I read recently that leiden classical has a native 64bit app for linux now.

A stupid question. I run XP (32) on my Core 2. Do I need a 64 bit OS to use the 64 bit clients and apps since the OS does needs to know memory management?

Yes, you need 64-bit OS and 64-bit version of BOINC core.

Good thing is - BOINC is now compiled in 64-bit version for Windows.
Bad thing is - there is no BOINC project application compiled for 64-bit Windows (32-bit apps are sent to 64-bit BOINC core from numerous projects).

true, but you can use the 64bit app in the main project for ABC with an app_info.xml file, so you are correct in that ABC wont sent the app...

Yeah, it helped, even I get:

26/06/2007 16:44:53|ABC@home beta|Reason: 17 consecutive failures fetching scheduler list
26/06/2007 16:45:03|ABC@home|Message from server: platform 'windows_x86_64' not found

ABC beta is down for a prolonged period, ABC doesn't know about 64-bit world.
I downgraded to 32-bit in order to get some work from ABC but can't overwrite ABC with it's 64-bit app I found on beta - it has different size and different file sig so BOINC doesn't want to run it...which is good for security.

So, anybody actualy running 64-bit BOINC apps on 'doze?

I believe that you need to run Crunch3r's x64 Windows client below, which uses the platform string "windows_amd64".

Augustine,

yes, that might be the problem.
ABC is quite outdated then...I think it should follow supporting official x64 releases from UCB - windows_x86_64

I will stick with 5.10.x versions or new BOINC Studio modified core based on 5.10.x for now.

The conclusion could be: there is no 64-bit apps for official BOINC core...yet (:-
