I just checked the certificate and it is valid.

Do you use a recent BOINC client?

7.6 is the latest and recommended version. Try that first. If that doesn't help, the BOINC devs will have to look at it.

but it is not in the debian jessie sources :-(

There is a bug in the openssl version in Debian Jessie that is used to verify the server certificates.

Have a look in the Einstein forum: Attention when updating Debian stable (Jessie) for a solution.
