My computer died and I just got a new one. I downloaded BOINC and got setup. I added BAM! as the account manager. I had the app sync with BOINCstatsBAM!. The app still shows nothing - no projects, no stats, nothing. I've been running BOINC for many, many years now, and I'm thinking/guessing that I haven't had to deal with installing on a new computer in such a long time that I'm missing something obvious. I would have thought that logging into the AM would have essentially added all my projects and everything to this new copy of the software. My stats and projects show up correctly on this website, so I'm not sure how to get it synced with the app, so I can continue working on this new PC.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you add BAM! correctly

Did you double-check you used the same credentials on Boincstats BAM! and your machine?

Can you add a project (without using BAM!) with your credentials in your Boinc Manager?

I just stopped and added BAM! back, just to be sure, and the username is the same as what appears on this webpage (saxygator). My profile with that username shows all my years of computation stats, but for some reason, even after adding BAM!, forcing a sync, and restarting BOINC, it still shows no projects or stats or anything else in the app.
And I stopped BAM!, added a project and signed up, and it is functioning correctly. I see it is downloading files already. But I only show info for that 1 project in the app.

Yes, I downloaded the BOINC Manager app from the website directly, added the BAM! Account manager, used the same username that's on this forum (saxygator).

I added the BAM! AM back, and then I manually added each of the 3 projects I had been participating in back into my account. On each project page, I selected the option for existing user, and put in my username and password. It seems to have added the projects into my account, and as far as I can tell, my new computer is showing up under my stats. I don't know if I was supposed to manually add them from the start or not - I guess I expected them to show up on their own once I logged into the AM and synced to BAM! - but I guess it's all resolved now.

Btw, is there any maintenance/housekeeping that I should do with regard to the tasks that are now abandoned on my old, dead computer? I know they'll time out eventually, but can I manually kill them so they can be released to other people? I went under my Hosts, selected my old desktop, clicked Edit Projects, then selected Yes to 'No New Work,' (that's irrelevant I guess, since that host is now dead and won't be logging in to get new tasks anyway) and 'Abort Not Started Work.' But is there anything I can do to stop the tasks that are pending and get them released?

Thanks

You refer to "the app is not showing anything". With "app", do you mean the BOINC Manager app or this website?

I meant the BOINC app. My stats are fine on this website.
In my last update, I explained that I think I have rectified the problem now by manually adding the individual projects I had been participating in back to my account, and logging into each one as an existing user. I thought they should have all populated when I added BAM! as A.M., but for whatever reason, they didn't.

New Update:
I'm not sure what's going on now. To briefly recap the situation, my computer died, I got a new one. I installed BOINC, added the BAM! using my old username. None of my projects were automatically added to the app. I manually added the three projects I was participating in, by clicking existing user and entering my username/password. That appeared to work, tasks were immediately downloaded and began processing. I thought everything was resolved.

Then today I went to check my stats just to make sure that everything is still OK - and this is the new problem.

When I look under BAM!:My Projects, I see all three projects listed - Einstein, Milky Way, and Rosetta. Great! When I click the icon under Stats for Einstein, it takes me to a page that says "User ID doesn't exist in Einstein@Home or doesn't have any credit." UH Oh!

When I click the Einstein project to go to that specific dashboard, I see my now-dead computer and my new one listed and credit is showing under both (~3.1M for my old computer, and 24k for my new one.) And when I click the new computer from that page, I can pull up a list of tasks and I see that I have completed and validated tasks, and it says credit was given.

When I pull up my new computer on the Einstein dashboard, there are 2 icons under Cross Project Credit. When I click those, I get the same type of error. BoincStats says "Host ID doesn't exist in BOINC combined or doesn't have any credit." and Free-DC says "No host found with that cpid. Perhaps this project is not exporting stats yet?"

Also, when I pull up the dashboard for the other 2 projects, down at the bottom is a list of all projects that I'm in, and Einstein doesn't show up there either.

That is the issue I am mainly concerned about. Additionally, I also am not showing any new stats under Milky Way or Rosetta - despite having completed and validated tasks for both today, as shown on their respective dashboards - but at least I'm not being told that the User or Host or CPID can't be found for those 2 projects. Does it just take time for new credit to populate through the system?

I have set Einstein to no new tasks until I can get this figured out. I want to ensure that I'm getting credit for the work being done, and I'm just very confused why I'm seeing credits on one page, but not even showing the project on others - and being told that my User/Host/CPID aren't found on yet others. I hope someone can help me figure out what is going on and let me know what to do to correct this. Sorry for the long post, but thanks for any help you can offer.

Similar situation here. Previously when I added a new PC BAM took it without problem. Just added a new one and BAM would not allow me to add BAM or a project. I got an error message so requested an email to help resolve the issue. Never got an email in response. After spending hours trying to resolve, I decided that that using BAM was of no real benefit as I only crunch two projects, The now suspended SETI and Milkyway. I did, for a while crunch Einstein but suspended that account for a variety of reasons. I am not interested in keeping Einstein stats but certainly want SETI and MW. I have decided to drop BAM all together and I went back checking my notes taken over the years and found numerous comments about loosing credits if BAM is removed. Is there a way to remove BAM from all PCs a at the same time or do I have to remove BAM from each PC individually? Advice sincerely appreciated. The loss of over a decade of SETI work would be a killer for me.....

Do you happen to have any guesses as to what could be going on or how to get it sorted out?

What do you see when you look at the tab 'Project list' in BAM! 'My detailed stats'?

You have to remove BAM! individually if you have not setup remote access to the boinc-client via boinccmd.
With boinccmd it is possible to run a script over any ip in your network which let you un-sync your machines from BAM!.
If this is news to you the manual way should be less time-consuming. ;-)

The work has been done, the credit has been recorded on Boincstats and other aggregation pages, but the moment you remove finished projects from your machines you don't have a personal track record you can easily access. BAM! will remove prjects from your machines if it is set to do so. Have a look at your BAM! settings.
But even if you set BAM! to remove the projects: by printing the Project list in your detailed stats you have some sort of track record, as you'd have if you printed out certificates from the projects themselves, if they remain accessible.
So, it might be preferable to keep your Boincstats account, even if you don't use BAM! anymore.

It used to show that I'm in Milky Way and Rosetta but not Einstein. But, right now it says "User ID doesn't exist in BOINC combined or doesn't have any credit." On the 26th, I clicked to renew CPID, not knowing anything else to try, and I don't guess the systems have caught up to that change yet? (I'm not even sure if that's how it works or not, to be honest.) My "main account page" on BAM! has had a blank CPID field since the 26th.

Speaking of the CPID, one other thing I notice from looking at BOINCstats and free-dc is that my CPID shows different on both. On BOINCstats it says my CPID is 83b35e37c29d575000796655d50a3a1f and on free-dc it says 1848799dba64ef03b099dd7af2adc027 . I don't know if this is also a function of me clicking the renew CPID? When I click on project list from BOINCstats, it only shows Milky Way and Rosetta (and btw does NOT show Seti under Retired projects). And when I click that CPID on free-dc, it also shows Milky Way and Rosetta (but it DOES show Seti in my project list), but it also doesn't show Einstein.

I've stopped new tasks from downloading for Einstein for now, and the last task that had already downloaded is finishing up within the hour. I don't know how to get Einstein to show up under my account, like it always has on my old computer. I can see stats for the tasks that I have done on my new computer, so I know I've gotten credit for them on some account, but I guess they're just not being attributed to my account for some reason - even though I clicked 'existing user' and typed in my username (saxygator) when I manually added the project to BAM!.

Hopefully this helps?

Have you allowed permission at EACH projects to SHOW YOU COMPUTERS AND ALLOW STATES EXPORTS TO 3RD PARTY STATS SITES (GDPR)? This is done on the your projects preferences pages at each project once you are logged in.
If not, nothing will show here or any other stats sites.

Woo hoo!! THANK YOU!! That was the problem! Somehow that setting got changed to No on the Einstein dashboard. I switched it to yes, and I can already see all 4 projects showing up on Free-DC stats. BOINCstats doesn't show Einstein yet, but I assume that will come in due time?

Also, so some 3 days after clicking renew CPID, I still have an empty field there on BAM! Do you know how long that will take to correct?
Thanks again for identifying the problem.

If I recall, BAM can take sometimes up to a week to sync.
