I´m having problems with Vista blocking Boinc at startup. This means I´m not getting the work done I´d like since I´m at work in the day, and the wife and kids don´t "remember" to start it manually hehe.

Have tried fiddling around a bit with settings but so far no luck. Any thoughts on this???

install it as a service, or put a shortcut to the manager in the All Programs/startup folder.

It´s already sitting in that folder. I have to allow the program to run manually everytime on startup. The computer says it is a certificate issue. How do I install it as a service? Sorry about the many questions but I´m not a computer wiz. Also how come my stats aren´t showing in the ID box?

To install as a service, you'll need to uninstall the current version first (at least I think you do, I don't think you can change install types using a repair install).

Download the installer from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php if you don't have the installer on your hard drive.

Run the installer again.

Choose service when prompted to pick your install method.

You'll have to put in the administrator name/password.

It's important to note that you won't get any graphics with a service install (and the older Win work around doesn't work with Vista) and if you want to suspend work while the computer is in use, it doesn't work. That's being worked on right now by Rom and it's in the latest alpha version (although not quite functional yet).

which version of BOINC are you trying to install? Also, yes, you have to uninstall before you can reinstall as a service. Your only options are "repair" and "uninstall". Repair will just reinstall with the previous settings.

uninstalling BOINC will not remove work from any of the projects. It only removes some files (not even all) from when you fist installed BOINC. After you reinstall BOINC, it most likely will just pick up from where it left off.
