Hi folks,

i shortly put Windows 7 64Bit on my Computer. Now, after reinstalling BOINC i cannot connect to BAM! in the Accountmanagement.
Somebody already got the same Problem or knows a reason for this mistake.
The Message in BOINC itself is just: "Fectching configuration file from http://bam.boincstats.com/get_project_config.php"

best regards

Would help to know what version of BOINC you are installing...to see if there is some conflict with Win 7. Also helps to know which release of Win 7 you are running. Probably RC1, but can't tell from your post.

Running Win7 Ultimate 64bit myself, no problems with BOINC (5.10.45).
Please do not PM, IM or email me for support (they will go unread/ignored). Use the forum for support.

I'm running 6.6.36 with the Win 7 RC, with no issues.

I know the way Win 7 does networking (and therefore firewalls possibly) is quite changed, so you may want to check for ports blocked off by the software firewall, or maybe BOINC has been accidentally denied access to Internet resources by Windows Firewall.

Control Panel / System and Security / Windows Firewall might be your first stop.

Okay... Scratch that last post...

Suddenly, I seem to be having issues where the BOINC Manager will randomly lose contact with the client. I'll either come back to it in this state, or when it starts running on computer boot-up. I'll have the dialog with "Communicating with BOINC client. Please wait ...", with two options: "Exit BOINC Manager" and "Cancel". Cancel sometimes shakes it loose and it connects, but more often than not, it'll just loop back to that dialog box.

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit RC1 (I believe it's RC1. Build number is 7100). BOINC version 6.6.38 (64-bit). Nvidia graphics drivers are up to date (191.07, I believe). Project list is in my sig.

I want to say something with one of the projects is making things wonky... Because there's stretches where it runs fine, then it doesn't.

Anyone have any suggestions / workarounds?

that's what you get with 6.6.x versions and running multiple projects - W7 is not the cause. try to use 6.10.x or reduce the number of active projects!

Perhaps selecting "Show active tasks only" (or something to that effect) would help, especially if your task list grows beyond 1000.

I say BOINC 6.6.38 is the problem. I had it installed for less than a week on an XP32 host. With just one project getting work it seemed fine. Once I had multiple projects getting work I would lose contact with the client with almost every change; switch tabs in advanced view, scroll the tasks listing, could not even get most option changes to go through (like suspend all work). I have not seen previous problems with 6.6.36 or 6.6.37 on XP32, Vista32 , Vista64, Win7-64. Upgraded that host to 6.10.13 two days ago and no connection problems since, running the exact same project mix.

Yep! Have to concur with Jeff and Frank... Upgraded to 6.10.13, and it's smooth sailing.

Now I'm just trying to get my preferences tweaked for the lappy and the desktop.
