If your trying to connect to the DNET Project it would as that's the Project that had the RAID Failure. But you should be able to get thru to other Projects other than Milkyway or Collatz the other 2 GPU Projects down ATM ...

Could you explain that a little further? Who/what can't connect to what? BOINC manager to client, client to project server, client to BAM!...?

That can only happen for all projects if you have either enough tasks downloaded or have set "No new tasks" for all projects.

The other computer every tab is blank no projects no messages nothing.

That looks like a problem of the BOINC manager connecting to the client. Is boinc.exe running? Are there any messages in stderrdae.txt or stdoutdae.txt (in the BOINC data directory)?

Try re-Installing BOINC again, just do a Repair install first. If that don't work un-install BOINC & do a complete new installation ...

I have the same problem. And I can't get it fixed. Not even after formatting.

Have you been able to get yours to work?

I did manage to get it to connect it worked fine for a while, then it started again I don't know if there's a bug in the software of some conflict with multicore processors.I have a pentium duocore and a i7 quadcore. What happens now is boincmanager will not connect automatically on its own it will keep saying not reporting or requesting tasks even though I do not have that button checked.I have to manually click the won't get new tasks button for each project then click allow new tasks and then the update button manually for each one separately to get more wu's.This is very annoying hope they fix it with next version

I had the same thing happen to me on a few Box's in recent day's, Updating to a newer BOINC Client solved the problem immediately. Downgrading might even work for all I know ...

I tried going to a previous version uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times it still does it.I don't want to try the new version until beta testing is over.Another thing it is doing is to keep asking for gpu work units when I have it set not to work on them.Hopefully I won't have to keep fetching wu's manually when new client comes out.

Since adding Einstein@home, BOINC manager has had trouble connecting to the localhost on start up (yes everything stays blank), the only thing I can do is continually restart the manager until it does connect, usually takes 2-3 tries to connect.

I repeat, this only started very recently and appears to have started when I added Einstein@Home.
Version 5.10.56 wxWidgets Version 2.8.10, "assumed" the download link to be for Vista x64 was to the correct client.

I think the last BOINC 5 version was 5.10.45, so I assume you are talking about 6.10.56

Richard Haselgrove wrote the following message at the BOINC dev boards (Message 36279):
It is also to be noted that Einstein tasks have a very long and memory-intensive startup (or restart) phase, during which the BOINC core client is unresponsive. I often see both the 'cannot connect to localhost' warning, and a gap in the time sequence of message log entries, if I try to start the manager too soon after a client restart, and there are Einstein tasks in the current mix.

In short, if the problem is only observed at startup, it's nothing to worry about - go and have a cup of tea, and things will be fine when you get back.

Gundolf
