Hi there, I've been running BOINC for quite a while, but in the last week or two I've been getting a strange message (I haven't updated the program recently, btw, there have been no changes between it running perfectly and this popping up. Neither have I installed any new programs on my HD). Here's a typical message:
04/10/2012 14:17:42 | SETI@home | Task 28jl12ac.902.637.140733193388040.10.57_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
04/10/2012 14:17:42 | SETI@home | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.

It's not just SETI, it's also happened with the Collatz Conjecture. The thing is, it carries on. It pauses when other things are using too much RAM, it restarts when there's enough to work with. I'm not getting as many updates as before (it's often saying that I'm not asking for any more work even though I am, but I think that may have something to do with the fact that another one is already running - I have 3 projects on the system), but it seems to be working otherwise.

Any ideas what it is and why it's happening? I'm currently ignoring it and letting it just do everything automatically given that it's not allowing me to fetch any new projects myself. That's probably the best thing in the end, but I'm curious as to what the zero status thing is and why it's happening every so often but continuing to compute seconds later!

Cheers

As you stated yourself: doing nothing is in most cases enough
You can find more info at several sites, like this one: Unofficial Boinc Wiki

Thank you I just thought it a tad weird as I'd never seen it before! It's still happening, but as you said, I'm just letting it get on with it. Thanks for the link, shall pay it a visit.
Cheers
