Hello,

I am in the process of setting up boinc on all the Mac's at work, roughly 300.

is there a file that can be "pushed" to the clients that will auto connect to my boincstats?

I tried using an image with everything preloaded but after initial testing it looks like all the machines with that image had the same host ID.

what I am looking for is a cfg or a xml that I can load on the machine that when boinc is loaded the first time after a reimage to connect to BAM and setup the host.

if all else fails i will have to set it up with applescript

Thanks for any help!

Do you really want to have 300 separate hosts in your host list?

A followup from my previous post..

I have one building fully deployed (~300 Apple iMac's) and half of my second building (~150 Apple iMacs). I think I am doing pretty well so far. Each building/site is under a different CPUID but all under 1 team. The first site I completed started on August 16th, I am now getting a RAC of 221,316.90 as of this morning and it continues to grow as results are coming in. Einstein is in the clear lead due to it being able to utilize the ATI GPU's in the majority of my Macs

Projects we are involved in -
WorldCommunityGrid 55%
Rosetta@home 11%
Einstein@home 11%
ClimatePrediction.net 11%
SETI@home 11%

We just started CPDN on friday so it will take some time before the results from those start coming in.

I am using BoincTasks to keep track of them all because I never could get it set on the mac deploy to not share the boincstats hostid automatically. So I setup the deploy with the projects already setup and not using boincstats to control everything.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

When using an image with the BOINC software already configured, having identical hostnames would be expected--is there a reason you don't want that? Are you trying to have precise control/stats information for each of your hosts; and if so, why? How is your HVAC load with that many hosts crunching away?

That's odd; I have not gotten a single Einstein GPU WU on any of my hosts.

If I may ask, what is the nature of the organization where you are deploying BOINC? I had considered doing this back when I was a school IT (before I got laid off) and my plan was to use BOINC as part of the image, attached to a BOINCstats user for on-the-fly project changes, etc. though I never got around to testing more than a few computers.
