My personal background
Started using Seti@home in 1999. I'm over sixty now, so everything growing up was about NASA and Outer Space -- our great escape from the Cold War. When the Mercury program launched a capsule, I often "didn't feel well" and had to stay home from school to watch the launch. As a kid, I read all I could about UFOs, Science Fiction, and even started on an Astronomy major as an undergrad. Too much math for me!

Online since 1982, I tend to hang out at a computer gaming hobby board, http://www.facebook.com/groups/mecantina. We MEC members share an interest in the world of Star Wars and battling with X-Wing and TIE fighters. With our mutual interests in space, I've convinced some of them to join the Seti project and we have our own little team now, MECantina.

I've worked in the music industry for the past 40 years for a production company that records music for broadcasters around the world. Magazine and hobby interests include reading SciAm, Smithsonian, and National Geographic, discussing and trading science and math articles over dinner with friends. When I'm not spending hours staring dully at computer screens, listen to jazz, enjoy a good cigar and a little bourbon while contemplating my place in the Universe.

Opinion about BOINCstats/BAM!
I'm not totally enamored with the UI at BAM, but think it's amazing for some of the basics of what it does!

I started my involvement with Seti@home in 1999, logging a lot of hours with my two little machines at home and three at work. Now the machines are faster and more numerous. The conversion to BOINC was a boon, and I'm looking forward now to using BOINCstats/BAM to keep it all together.

I offer one criticism. It's a long hard road to find out the sign-up information you need to connect BOINC to bam.boincstats.com. Perhaps the first page could have a better (more visible and descriptive) link on how to get started.
